I was just thinking about all the united testimonials over recent years and can't remember who last had a testimonial for us.

Also, who do you think will be next, or is football so different now that there are likely to be very few, if any?

Unfortunately not. Pretty disappointed with the club at the time for not doing anything at all.

They took a decision a long long time ago that Players earn too much to be asking fans to donate further money to them, not sure if this still stands

Well yes and no. Think we gave him the testimonial for paying all the operations and paying his wages and then getting him back in playing shape.

The idea of testimonials in modern top clubs is dead imo. They earn so much that they don't need "few extra quid to set up a pub".

Technically he was the one who won us the Division 2 Play-Off final against Gillingham and NOT Paul Dickov. I think we owe him a lot.

I have only ever been to two testimonials in my life.

Went to Mike Doyles about 33 years ago, im sure a City X1 beat an England X1 by 4 goals to 3 with Doyle scoring the winning penalty

Went to Paul Lakes as well when City drew with the filth 2 all

Both were deserving imo, but I wouldn't hand over 1p for any of the modern players.

I think premiership players should donate any money raised to charity if they are lucky enough to be granted a testimonial.
I think Niall Quinn for some reason had a testomonial @ Sunderland (think they played Ireland) not sure why he was given a testmonial, anyway im almost certain he donated all the proceeds to charity.

He did indeed give it all to charity, but it still means handing money over. If I want to give money to a charity then I do it without any fanfare to a charity I think deserves it and not one a footballer wants to get kudos for raising a million!!
