Havent seen it anywhere else but according to SSN we have given Wigan Bolton and Sunderland permission to speak to him. Will be gutted to see him go as hes one of my all time fave city players. I wouldve thought he could do better than the clubs mentioned...

He'll probably end up at Bolton - hopefull y he'll have a couple of off-days against us but play well for the rest of the season.

Thought he'd played himself into the squad with his performances on tour, looks like he was only playing himself into the shop window. Sorry to see SWP go, he's a link to the past (think he got his first goal at a very hostile Den then scored at home the next weekend) but I guess Bobby Mancini doesn't do nostalgia.

Wasnt that the game when City fans were banned from going and he jumped into the empty seats when he scored? 3-1 for us iirc

Mancini seems to be very fair when he talks about SWP. Basically says he would keep him if he wants to stay and fight for his place but he wants to play more regularly and he won't stand in his way.

I for one will really miss Swp if he goes, still think he has lots to offer as a squad player.Maybe thats not enough for him at this stage of his career and if thats the case that has to be respected.I have no doubt if he does go to any of the clubs linked to him he will be a fantastic addition for them.Hopefully he will stick around.

I think they lined up and applauded the empty seats, not jumped in them.

They did indeed.

On SWP isn't he moving into his last year on his contract? Best for all parties if he can move on now. As others said Bobby would be quite happy for him to stay and fight, but would opnly be a bi-part player and it wouldn't make economic sense.

What interests me is that we seem to have only just given these clubs permission, after a long summer. So we must have a new winger flying in the door any minute.

Mr Cerci?

I can't believe he's 30 this year,
I'd rather see him excel in someone else's shirt than rot in our stands. he deserves that, which is what Mancini is saying.
Love him

I'd be fucking gutted. Among my all time top 3 favourite City players. Still huge fan. And, I 100% believe that he could and would still contribute.

GUTTED if we let him go and even as Mancini licker it would be hard decision for me to swallow.

I was ready to see Shaun go last season and thought he had gone past his sell by date, but I have to say that he impressed me at the back end of the last campaign and in pre-season. I'd like to see him stay and we honestly could use him....we need the numbers if nothing else. I don't think he nor Adam Johnson will be nailed on starters this season but both could play a good part in the coming season.

It would be a mistake to sell him

My view too.
I'll go further and say that he offers more than Johnson.

Depending on who else we bring in, it might be best for everyone if he leaves.

If we dont sign another wide player, it makes perfect sense to keep him, and I think he could still force himself into giving Bobby a nice headache. He still offers something our other players don't.

Yep. Mancini's getting rid of a City great and someone a real affinity for the club. In exchange, seems we're getting some average Italian winger with a rubbish injury record.

If Cerci comes, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Still, if we're going to ship out SWP and/or Weiss, surely we should be looking to improve on them both. By all accounts, Cerci isn't that player.

SWP may want to go and to play more throughout the season. Can't begrudge him that. Not a great decision from a club perspective though - I think he deserves a shot here after the pre-season he's had (and given the history he has with us).

He's been our best player pre season for sure, bit of a daft move but if he wants first team footy it's upto him init.

Said on his twitter that he's heard nothing and was getting ready to travel south, but equally in Mancini's press conference he said that he'd be speaking to him yesterday to ask if he'd be happy with a bit part role and SWP also didn't mention that on Twitter.

Given the number of comps we're in this year I'd love to see him stay even if he runs his contract out and then leaves on a free, he does seem to need to play regular but you could, for example promise to include him in the domestic cups. If Bobby is to be believed it will be entirely down to whether SWP wants to play regular football

You don't see it as a bit of a shop window?

As much as I would like him to stay, the impression I got from the pre-season was he was after a move to another club.

He's home grown and gives us width. He HAS to stay.

I thought he was a bag of shite last season but he's doing most of the stuff I've been asking for him to do so far this season. If Bob signs Sneijder & Nasri though, he'll never get a game.

I'd prefer someone who keeps possession of the ball better than SWP and who can deliver consistent quality ball in the final third which SWP has never done. What about Eden Hazard?
