Anderlecht officially stating a deal has been agreed between the clubs, pending medical....would have liked to see him here,...can't have em all i guess.....was a bit of an FM dream from years back,...hope he flops, but believe he'll be an improved Drogba within 2 seasons if i'm honest............semi gutted

You know what, I personally think Sturridge is going to be his equal if not more. Its just that Chelski wants their 50m pony start performing for them - and he wont.

I wonder where all the slew of stories are about how Chelsea are going to have some unhappy strikers now they have 6.

Do you really care ffs ?

Arguably, we have the strongest squad in europe, not necessarily the best team but we are definitely getting there and about to embark on the most ultimate dream you could ever wish for!!!!!!

good player, I think he'll be able to learn a lot from drogba and I think him and sturridge could be an amazing pair in the future for chelsea. He'll be able to make an impact as a sub this season and next ... then probably push for more playing time after that, he's a big talent.

can't say i'm "gutted" he isn't here, I dont think we were ever really in for him and I think we have dzeko, balo, and aguero to develop as is, guidetti as well ... depending on your opinion.

as I said, I think he will become a world superstar though in the future.

This guy is going to be best centerforward in the world in four years. We should have gone for him in january when he would've still count as homegrown in future. He has already turned 18 so doesn't really matter much anymore in that sense.

If he's going to be the best in the World we won't really care so much whether he's homegrown or not, though it would be useful.

Yeah, what I meant was that buying him as "homegrown one for the future" should've happened in january transfer window before he turned 18. It's all the same now.

For the future though. We're not the best place in the world for young project players who might need a few years before they're ready. We're still gelling. Chelsea have a different problem, they have an aging core to their squad so they need a different strategy. Maintaining a squad rather than building one.

We have a really young team. Gareth Barry turned 30 this year, SWP will later this year. There are a few other players like Bellamy who aren't in the plans. Beyond them we can look at players like Lescott (29 later this month) as elder members of the team.

Chelsea, they have Cole (30), Lampard (33), Terry (30), Anelka (32), Drogba (33).
