I'm from the USA and haven't really been following any of this.
I know some of the basics... but why is everyone rioting?

Nobody knows, including those doing the rioting!

I want the England game to go ahead, I reckon a few of our boys would benefit from another run out before the season starts.

Because we have developed a society where the police are more likely to get prosecuted than the rioters, anyone caught may get an £80 fine or an ASBO if they are unlucky enough to go to court, and any immigrants rioting cant be prosecuted or deported because it will infringe their human rights as their 38th cousin was once hit on the head by a policeman in Zimbabwe. That's what many years of soft government does for you. I should watch out if I were you, looking at your fella!

They are just young thugs and thieves.

Now lets get this useless match off asap and get our players back to train.

Apparently Nigel de Jong was in Manchester last night holding up a sign saying "Don't even try it"

;)

Me too mate. We'd have factored this game into our build-up programme so missing it will take away the much needed game time for many of our players. How many would've been in the squad again?

Hart
Milner
Barry
Lescott
Johnson
Richards
De Jong

Any more?

There's 5 players there who will most probably play against Swansea and by the look of them on Sunday, they definately need some game time to get up to speed.

Unless Mancini had assurances from Capello on how much game time our players would get it would have been stupid to factor this game into our preparations, the likelihood is that if the game did go ahead only Hart and De Jong would start

I would've thought most would be getting at least 45 minutes game time, as per most of our England games. If Mancini hasn't factored it in I'd be mighty surprised, especially considering Sunday's performance.

Sad day for English Sport, how are we going to hold an Olympics if we can't play a friendly football game..?? Should have gone ahead either with closed stadium or moved to Manchester. I know the game is pointless but the rioters have won

Agreed a very sad day. But I fear if the game was moved elsewhere these thugs might have moved along with it.The police need to be given some real power to deal with this
