I think bobby manc is doing a great job,but can he not see we have a lack of pace in our first 11.Pace changes games. At 2-1 on Sun I would have brought Aguero on. They would not have able to commit to attack if they knew that someone with true pace was upfront for us. If he was unable to play he shouldnt be on the bench.I know Nasri is quick but I would like Walcott or Lennon. We have been linked to cerci.Does he have pace,or is he another Barry/Milnet.(no pace but can run all day)

My friend, until Sunday we seemed to be doing alright, and we lost in the last minute of extra time to the best team in the country on a very good day.
Football, and history, is littered with players with 'pace' like Walcott and Lennon. But unfortunately for 70 or 80 minutes it is like playing with 10 men. Football is not always like that anymore.
As for Aguero I would have thought it good to have him right in there with his team mates, but lunacy to risk his long-lasting blisters so he may not be fit for Swansea. If anyone has ever played with blisters, the pain killers and adrenalin take you through a match, but afterwards you are absolutely fucked!

Pace can be devastating, but can be countered by clever defenders who can read the game and think quickly. The first five yards is in your head.

Every good team has at least one very fast player.
Up until Aguero we had none.
Hopefully we sign someone else with pace asap, even for coming off the bench against tired defence.

Bellamy. Sadly, as lost causes go that's among the lostest.

I find that the better team like the rags are aware of our lack of space and will play the whole match knowing we do not have the pace to get behind them. The defence would not push up upto the half way line if we had pace. It makes them think twice and enables to use the counter attack better.I m not saying I dont like our style of play, but sometimes I would like us to Vary the play a little bit. If Aguero wasnt fit he should not have been on the bench.

Clichy? Mario? Yaya? Richards?
All pretty handy on the pace front

I disagree mate, they are reasonably fast players, as is Tevez, but they are not known as being "pacey".
I mean lightening fast pace that's a nightmare for tired defences.

I disagree with both of you. Clichy is probably our fastest player (dunno about Aguero). He is supposedly one of the fastest in the prem.

Ok then well I should have been clearer about the need for having genuine pace in our FORWARDS!!

This ^^^ as they say in that other place when trying to appear cool & offhand.
Nasri's pretty quick though from what I can remember of seeing him in the flesh.

Pace isn't the problem. It's sharpness of thought. Nani is no faster than Mario. Young isn't faster than Aguero. Tevez isn't slower than Rooney or Welbeck. Cleverly and Carrick are definitely not faster than Milner and De Jong etc etc
We were just slow to the ball and not right on Sunday. Our movement wasn't quick, our reactions were slow. We weren't awake.

Not talking about just Sunday though. In general we lacked pace last season. The new players should help that.

Yeah I guess. I do think though our style of play just appears slow. We haven't quite mastered the darting movement of Barca yet, though that's how we intend to play it seems.
Presuming we sign Nasri, and if Tevez goes, this would be my strongest 11.
...... Hart........
MR...VK..JL...GC
.....NDJ..YT......
SN....DS......MB
.......SA..........
Plenty of pace there. Micah and Gael are both very fast. Samir, Mario and Sergio are fast, and that'd be more than enough as far as i'm concerned.

We dont lack pace.
Its in the head of the players, which pace they are comfortable to play in and how quick they can find a good pass, one touch and so on that we need to improve to e a little faster on the pitch. Our players are fast enough with their feets, have to be it in their minds to and always know where there is a pass. So most of it is about tactics and training (playing) on small areas.

Depends which side we put out. The new players add pace but a side with Kolarov, Zabba, Lescott, Kompany, Barry, DeJong, Milner, Dzeko would have hardly any.
Going on last season's selections, 6 of those players often played in the same side so if the remaining four aren't very quick we have been a fairly ploddy side on average.
