Jim Leighton's heir hands title to City

So at last an heir to the uselessly incompetent Jim Leighton has been found. A long tradition of worse-than-average goalkeeping broken only by Schmeichel and van der Saar is being carried on by the very expensive David de Gea. Not troubled too much against us, he still managed to make one possible and one obvious error. Battered by West Brom at times yesterday he looked like a schoolboy suddenly put on the PL pitch. And with the added bonus of a Galen-type beard from Planet of the Apes original series (played by Roddy McDowall).
So will Darth Sidius Ferguson send him the same way as that hapless Italian fella? Or will he have to persevere with him due to the expense, the youth and the lack of alternatives? Or will he have to buy another?
Goalkeepers win titles. They can also hand them to someone else.

I would say its too early to judge, lets give him 6 months then start with the piss taking, as with most things United they come back and bite us on the arse, like the old chestnut from last year that they were a spent force!

Sure but goalkeeping is a different game isn't it? Things can go from bad to worse and to hell in a handcart. Bet Taggart is in a right pickle right now in this head.

Spot on. Demento has been tracking this lad for 18 months and spent 19mil on him .... as much as I hate him, he very rarely cocks up on stuff like this and the lad will undoubtedly become a legend given time

I would say I agree with Sof, but it took Gomes a full year to get his game around, there is every possibility that even if he comes good that he could have a terrible year and john's point is quite valid.

13 years ago there were 10.5 million reasons why fabien barthez was one of his most hilarious fuck-ups.

i think you are right...on both points.
Would you agree tho that his chimpanzee-like beard is shit *right now* though?
seems indisputable to me.
How is it that footballers WAGs don't drop the hammer? i could make a billion dollars a year and no woman would let me leave the house with that sad excuse for facial hair.
cheers

The thing is for me is that Lindergaard actually looks good. So I don't think United will be too worried tbh. I think they'll be alright, annoyingly.

Has 6 months passed yet? Is he acheiving legend status? Well on the way I'd say to some sort of legend. Or leg end.

Jim Leighton was used as an excuse for the rags getting fucking mullered by City, as was Paddy Roach when we beat them 4-0 in the League Cup years before. Traditional rag response.

I have a sneaky feeling Stoke could get a result at the Swamp if De Gea in goal. Shawcross and Huth will squash him at set pieces.
I am sure Pulis is planning a smash and grab already. Sorry should be discussing City and not what them lot do but just saying.

I would imagine Pulis is planning for a defeat by two goals or less.

I highly doubt he'll play. I think Bacon will pick Lindegaard.

Apparently he will be playing because Lindegaard left training yesterday on crutches. So unless that is one of Fergies bluff tactics , it looks like deGea will see action, if he is no longer ill from yesterday.
Come Pulis, pull yer finger out and get a result at the trough.

I would imagine stoke have already lost the game (in their own heads at least) before they even step onto the pitch. Tony Penis is just another one of taggart's cronies ala fat Sam, the elephant man and countless others

Like they did at ours. Utterly pathetic that was.

Stoke throwing us the game at our place was disgraceful alright, but its the only game I can remember thinking that was thrown in our favour.
I've seen about 5 teams for the rags.
This bollox of giving in before you've played a team, or rolling out the red carpet because the rags are good enough to visit is total horse shit.
Does my head in.
Oh, and the gay is shit.
