Postby Fidel Castro » Mon Aug 15, 2011 11:43 pm

What has happened to football? Had a good time tonight, but the stewards are dicks trying to implement this shite health n safety bollocks, ruining the atmosphere. Compared to Germany and Holland, I'm afraid to say atmosphere in prem league is bobbins nowadays. what has happened?

Give it a month mate and it'll all be back to normal.

It's not the club, they try to encourage it in a way, it's the bereaucratic twat's who make the rule.

We moved our Scs to the very back row of Level 1 from Row 3. It was just a massive pain in the arse every fucking match. Hassling, moaning, nastiness and assorted other bollocks. Plus the lad next to me basically spat his way through each match. Just stood there, dropping spit on the ground into a bigger and bigger pool. Back row seats are apparently behind the disabled ones...bizarre but Business Class-like legroom! Me mate went last night as I was not feeling great. Slightly annoyed I was not there for that!

I'm in 109 and that stupid scraggy haired bitch (bottom of 110) didn't shut up all game. done my swede in big time. Couldnt believe that they decided to pick one lad out when the whole block was standing and kick him out. Its bollocks.

I was saying to see Lee_Kinda that it was love at first sight, she was bloody gorgeous and bossy.....grrrrh....:-)

On a side note I am going to email the club about this, i dont pay close to £600 for a ST to look at the back of a Showsec stewards head as happend on Monday and in several games last season. Will insist of beong moved if they dont sort it out. How can they tell people in block 109 to sit down but no less than 2ft we are all stood in block 110 and all the away fans are stood up. Pointless.

I know the clubs seem to think that they are under an obligation to ensure that everybody sits down but has this ever been legally challenged?

My understanding of the rule/law is that every person in the ground must be allocated a seat, I have never seen anything to say that they must stay sat in that seat.

It was brought in to ensure that there is enough room in the stands for all the fans and also as a way of knowing where people are situated in the ground. Forcing people to sit down serves neither of these purposes.

That's my understanding too. So I can understand stewards doing that if people are standing and blocking other peoples view, but if everyone's standing it's a total nonsense. TBH, it's a pain in the arse all this up and down.

True. However, other legislation prevents people from standing in certain areas, eg concourses, in the same way that you're not allowed to loiter near fire exits at nightclubs, gigs, etc.

On the subject of sitting in your seat (as opposed to standing in front of it), I don't have a clue whether the law actually obliges people to sit through some H&S regulation, or whether it is inferred from legislation by the club/security. It would be interesting to see whether someone would be able to challenge the club/showsec in court for being thrown out of a game for standing- however, I think that there's some small print to cover their arses printed in a ticket's T&Cs saying it remains the property of the club at all times, and they reserve the right to eject people from the ground for whatever reason they deem fit.

As to the club challenging the law, basically if a law doesn't exist, then they can't challenge it. As the stewards are under the club's (and not the FA/PL's) jurisdiction, then all they can do is tell the security to allow people to stand, which could potentially leave them open to all kinds of litigation were something to happen.
