18 Steps to a Great Goal

Postby Beefymcfc » Tue Aug 16, 2011 12:15 am

It won't be talked about in any of the media so I thought I'd at least put it down for posterity.

1. From a Swansea corner it eventually ends up in Joe Hart's hands.

2. He throws over-head to Gael Clichy to the left on the edge of the box.

3. Quick pass to Gareth Barry.

4. Barry put's it forward 10 yards back to Clichy.

5. Clichy takes 20 yards and then flicks it over 30 yards to David Silva in their half.

6. Dave immediately flicks it 5 yards to Edin Dzeko on the wing.

7. Dzeko takes it 10 yards forward then passes it 20 yards back to Barry towards the middle.

8. Barry does a step-over, reverses and passes it 15 yards back to Clichy.

9. Clichy immediately passes forward 20 yards to Dzeko.

10. 5 yard one touch to Barry.

11. 5 yard 2 touch to Dzeko.

12. Edin pushes inside and passes to Vince Kompany in the centre.

13. Vince passes squarely right to AJ.

14. AJ passes square centrally to Yaya.

15. Yaya gains 5 yards and passes right to AJ.

16. AJ quickly controls and passes forward into the right edge of the box to Micah.

17. Micah runs on and passes the ball across the box for players to run onto.

18. Aguero comes in, after Edin's run to the near post, to poke it in with his right foot at the far post.

Aguero's first goal, Man City's 2nd of 4. Swansea didn't get a touch and the crowd go ballistic finishing off with the Poznan.

I wonder if they'll be analysing this goal for years to come?

how fantastic was Micah today? so up for it...the lad has just come back from the depths from which i never thought he'd return about 24 months ago, and is the best RB in England, is he not?

always up for it...the last 12 months have shown some positive control and focus on his game going forward and a studied application on the defensive end to limit his weaknesses.

So proud of him today and that cross for the finish was really well executed.

also, i might have started drinking a whisky or two in the last hour or so...who else is having one with me? what a day.

You might've guessed, but I'm having a little tipple as well ;-)

On Micah, I thought he started out well but then faded for the middle part of the match, tending to sit instead of getting forward. I always think he looks better when pushing forward and he didn't disappoint when the team looked to attack; he was a real threat.

For me though, Edin Dzeko stood out after my initial confusion of him playing the lone striker role. He seemed to get more into the game as it went along and his touch and passing came on no end. His movement for the said goal was just class and I've got to give credit to Mancini for giving him the chance to shine.

jayko looked so much better when Aguero came on. imagine footballers who look better with better footballers playing beside them. What's it come to with City?

insanity.

I'm lost with it all mate, it's just too much.

The 3rd goal was just as good in many respects but I've just remembered what happened with the 4th. I was sat there hoping for the 5 but very much happy with the 3rd, when I saw the ball arrive back at Aguero and just knew he wanted to have a crack. He pushed the ball forward and let loose, the ball flew and everyone around me went up in the air. Not me though, I just sat there like a fool who'd forgot his pants, knowing what real class we'd brought in.

It was impressive to say the least, but when people say that we brought him in to replace Tevez, I'm hoping he's here to compliment him; and I'm sure the bosses feel the same.

Aguero and Dzeko is more of a partnership than Dzeko and Tevez or Aguero and Tevez ever will be.

They naturally compliment each other. It's not too far off Forlan and Aguero really.

Not sure about that, but if it clicks, I'll be more than happy.

I said 'not too far off'...wasn't implying it was the same :)

Dzeko is tall, stocky, pretty competent and twatting the ball with either foot, and scores his fair share of tap ins...and can actually dribble a bit when on form (like tonight)....Forlan can do all that too.

Not the same, no....but he's different enough to Aguero to make it work. Tevez just doesn't play well with a partner full stop really. Aguero is used to it.

the quickness of his release on the 4th goal and the placement was just impeccable. the man's got a strong peg. How lucky are we?

Hard to imagine with a shot like that that he won't get one of those chances a couple times a match...i fancy some of them going in. Just the beginning.
