UEFA has put out the financial numbers from last year's Champions League and Europa League and it makes for interesting reading.
In brief, we made 6,131,224 euros from our Europa League campaign, the bulk of which (4,071,224) came from having been an English team in the competition, originating from a lucrative market. Strangely enough, Villarreal were the top earners, without making the final, earning well over a million euros more than the eventual winners, FC Porto, on the basis of the size of their domestic market.

By contrast, the worst team in last year's Champions League, Slovakia's MSK Zilina, earned 7,412,000 without earning a single point.

Very interesting.

Do you know what the criteria for Market - Pool is as that seems to be the main separator?
Is it just how lucrative the market / league is plus the club's market-ability?

I suppose with certain teams they get more viewers which means higher sponsorship money, but how can this be fair?
Especially with the Scum getting more than Barcelona in the Champions League.
That doesn't exactly help the smaller teams with the FFP rules.

they want fair play when it's us with the big hairy bollox in their faces....when they've dropped trow and are about to mouthfuck a smaller club, then it's a goddam Roman meritocracy and only the strong shall survive and the weak should thank them for a faceful.

Not exactly on topic but the draw for the group stages is 25th August at 6pm, at which time everyone should have the easyjet/monarch/flybe websites open!
