Samir Nasri has denied taking another angry parting shot at Arsenal as his £23 million move to Manchester City inched towards its conclusion. The France midfielder has allowed his contract to run into its final year, meaning Arsenal must sell him now or risk receiving nothing when he can leave on a free transfer next summer. Personal terms of around £165,000-a-week have already been provisionally agreed with Manchester City and his transfer should be completed by the weekend.
Nasri was subjected to obscene chanting from the Arsenal fans at Newcastle on Saturday and responded on Twitter, where he branded those supporters “disrespectful”.
Yesterday, a Facebook account purporting to belong to Nasri claimed he would leave with "anger and bitterness", but that account's authenticity has since been denied.
Arsenal are now searching for replacements and, as well as Valencia’s Juan Mata and Brazil midfielder Jadson, they are closely tracking Eden Hazard. Lille have indicated that they would want €30 million (£26.4 million) for the Belgian midfielder.
SPURS IN ADEBAYOR CHASE
TOTTENHAM are closing in on a season-long loan deal for Emmanuel Adebayor.
And they hope to have him on board in time to play at Manchester United next Monday.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is desperate to bring in some fresh firepower.
And he is on the verge of a breakthrough in his search for a striker with Spurs and Manchester City close to finalising a
deal for Adebayor.
City are keen to offload Adebayor, who is out of favour at the Etihad Stadium and spent the end of last season at Real Madrid.
But they were struggling to find a taker for the 27 year old – until now.
Madrid have shown little desire to land Adebayor on a permanent basis, and wages have proved to be a stumbling block for Spurs.
City originally wanted Spurs to pay the majority of his £170,000-a-week wages to land him on loan.
But the two clubs have reached a compromise deal and agreed to pay 50 per cent, £85,000, each.
Adebayor’s move will be a controversial one.
He spent two-and-a-half years at Arsenal and was subjected to sick taunts from Spurs fans whenever the London rivals clashed.
But the striker has already insisted he is willing to join Spurs and forget the abuse despite his Gunners links.STAR
City could pay SWP to move to Bolton
Shaun Wright-Phillips is in talks with Manchester City about a pay-off that would open the door for his move to Bolton.
The England winger is keen on the transfer, but the Trotters are unwilling to disrupt their pay ceiling to bring him in - and have made what they insist is their maximum offer.
Wright-Phillips would rather join Bolton than fellow suitors Wigan and Stoke and is trying to reach a settlement with City, where he has a year left on a £50,000-a-week deal.
City will pick up around £2million from Owen Coyle's men for the 29-year-old, and may be in a position to pass a slice of the fee on to Wright-Phillips just to get him off their payroll.
There are a string of players at City looking for pay-offs as boss Roberto Mancini clears the decks, and the club are trying to hammer out the best terms possible - from their point of view - in a difficult set of negotiations.MIRROR
Everton plan swoop for Man City defender
Everton boss David Moyes is in talks with Manchester City about signing out-of-favour defender Nedum Onuoha.
Onuoha spent last season on loan at Sunderland, and Moyes would ideally take him to Goodison on the same basis.
City, however, want to sell Onuoha, who has also been a target for Bolton and Blackburn, but may relent if Everton pick up his £40,000-a-week wages.
The player wants to stay in the north-west for personal reasons, and the move would suit him if the clubs can agree to the terms.
Everton could even make a cash offer for Onuoha if Arsenal buy their England centre-half Phil Jagielka. although they want a deal tied up with City as soon as possible rather than waiting for a new bid from the Gunners.
Moyes is trying to get rid of another central defender, Joseph Yobo, who is no longer in his plans, and could do with having both Onuoha and Jagielka in his squad if he can somehow make the payroll sums work.
Bolton were interested in Onuoha when they were discussing a swap with City for centre-back Gary Cahill, while Blackburn see the 24-year-old as a potential replacement for in-demand skipper Chris Samba. MIRROR
Manchester City tell Newcastle to pay £2million to loan Wayne Bridge
NEWCASTLE have been told to stump up around £2million to take Wayne Bridge on loan from Manchester City.
Bridge, signed for £12million from Chelsea in 2009, is not in boss Roberto Mancini's first-team plans but the City chief still wants a fee for any short-term deal.
Toon boss Alan Pardew - desperate to sign a left-back - would also have to pay half of Bridge's £90,000-a-week wages.SUN
James Milner and Adam Johnson to stay at Man City
MANCHESTER CITY will block any attempts by Alex McLeish to take James Milner and Adam Johnson on loan.
Aston Villa boss Big Eck asked about the pair during talks over keeper Shay Given's move from the Etihad last month.
Midfielder Milner, 25, left Villa only a year ago in a £24million deal while winger Johnson, 24, cost £6m from Middlesbrough in February 2010.
But City boss Roberto Mancini insists neither player will be leaving. SUN

Hoddle: ‘Man City have still got a lot of work to do’
Glenn Hoddle has told talkSPORT Manchester City have a lot of work to do before they are ready to topple rivals Manchester United.
City started their Premier League campaign in emphatic style on Monday, with summer signing Sergio Aguero coming off the bench to inspire them to a 4-0 victory over Swansea.
But Hoddle was not overly impressed by their display against the Premier League new boys and believes Roberto Mancini’s men need major improvements to wrestle the title away from United.
“What concerns me with City is I look at the system they're playing and don’t know whether individuals totally know what their jobs are” Glenn Hoddle
The former England boss told Keys & Gray: “They’ve got so much strength in depth that you’ve got to say they will be contending - but they’ve still got a lot of work to do.
“The first half was very, very disappointing if you’re a City fan. They were totally outplayed by Swansea. OK, Swansea found it hard to penetrate in the last third, which teams coming up are always going to find difficult because that’s the cutting edge that you pay your millions of pounds for, but they played some smashing football. You were looking at City and thinking they can’t keep the ball.
“What concerns me with City is I look at the system they're playing and don’t know whether individuals totally know what their jobs are on the pitch. At Wembley [against Manchester United in the Community Shield] I was very surprised to see how they approached the game.
“Whether it’s the tactical nous getting across to the players or whether it’s the players not really taking it on board, I don’t know. But I was very concerned by the shape they played and when players came into little holes no-one covered the areas they need to cover and I think against better teams, more forceful teams, they could have a problem if they don’t get that right.”
