Fernando Gago - last signing

Marca reckons that we are now pushing hard for Gago, who has absolutely no future with Mourinho. Real want €10M, but we have offered €5M. They reckon the deal will be done in the next week, most likely on 31st, when Real will have to take one of the offers (the other is Roma).

For some reason the rumour is he's rather live in Rome (maybe Tevez told him there's only 2 restaurants in Manchester?)

Didn't Marwood say the club would only looking at loan deals for the remainder of this transfer window?

Gago might be a good loan signing for a season.

If we're looking to reinforce that area of the pitch, I'd sooner take Lass for a year, pay a small loan fee and 100% of his wages. Not a big Gago fan, and what's the point of him swapping one bench for another anyway?

I suspect this might be Marca craftily trying to aggrandise FG on Madrid's behalf. Link him with good teams to make him sound good and see if anyone else comes in for him.

I'd rather see what Razak's made of. Looked impressive in pre-season and by all account he's shone in the EDS. I know there are four competitions but we're not exactly threadbare down the middle.

How much football has this bloke played in recent seasons ? Even if he is shit hot player, how could we trust him to step straight in & do a job for us if he hasn't been doing it elsewhere ?

If he's not ready to step straight in, is it worth bothering?

Also, I've always been wary of signing a bloke who's name sounds like a 60's 'B' movie monster.

Or the smutty star of post-Salazar Portuguese jazz mags.

he crops up about this time every summer since sheiky bought us - be suprised if it happens - another argie in the squad won't go amiss - surround tevez with his compatriates, created an argentian beef restaurant in town a nd problem is solved surely

Don't think we need him to be honest. Obviously NDJ is our main defensive midfielder, but Barry can do that job too, as could Milner and Yaya, and potentially even Zab if it came down to it. Not to mention Razak.

My opinion too, i dont think we need another centre midfielder we have so many options we dont want to end up with too many cooks...esp another high profile signing, i can't see how we can offer him any more game time than madrid can.

I don't want him...
We have enough players right now and don't need players like Gago in this squad.

Not sure. Not playing a lot of football doesn't help, but it's not like he wasn't getting action somewhere crap.

He struck me as the kind of player who might struggle in England when I first watched him but that was in the context of a different City team. The link with Aguero might be helpful.

I'd say it's BS, if Bobby wants him though and he's cheap then welcome aboard.

I am not sure I want us to sign another player. We have an amazing squad now, let it blend and give a few of our EDS players a chance to develop.
