Everyone raves at the flair players we have but Gaz has got off to an absolute flyer this season

During the match I've taken to just watching him and he has a hand in everything..brilliant at breaking up opposition play

As much as I like Nigel I just can't see him getting the nod when he gets back

Barry gets a lot of stick..mainly Internet based it seems..because the blues I talk to on the street seem to be of the same opinion as me

Really found his feet IMO

Had another great game, and a lovely one two for Dzekos fourth.

I have often been very frustrated by Barry in the past but am pleasantly surprised he has had such a great start to the season.
He has been exceptional and hopefully he can continue to show this kind of form on a regular basis.

Maybe it's the realisation that he has to be at the top of his game to stay in the side.Sometimes competition for places brings the best out of players.

Maybe it's because the team is playing better so he doesn't have to spend quite so much time filling holes & covering for their mistakes as he has in recent years.

Agreed, great passer of the ball. Where does Dejong fit in though?

have to say I was impressed with barry v. spurs. I have been of the opinion that he doesn't really excel at anything and we are better suited using other players in midfield, but he definitely looked quality last match. I noticed him popping up a lot, sweeping up balls and distributing to our flair players ... having aguero, silva, and nasri ahead of him meant he didn't have to do much attacking work himself and wasn't under pressure to either (a) find silva or (b) try to push the team forward himself. you can't mark 3 players out of a game so barry will always have a creative force to pass to, and he also took his opportunities going forward well, not forcing something that wasn't there.

Totally impressed last match and on that showing, in that formation I would back him above milner definitely ... I will withhold opinion on whether or not he can replace dejong though, until I have seen dejong operate in the same system that barry has just excelled in.

De Jong, when fit, will play against the sides with a better attacking midfield. He 'sits in the hole' better than any other player in the league and will get plenty of games this season.

Barry is a different player from last season and is finally showing why we bought him. His involvement in our 5th game reminded me of when he was at his best with Villa.

I think this 'stick' he is getting is in his head, Barry is well praised on here.

I think he will be the one to sit down as well, but you can never underestimate the influence of form. Right now we have 5 players who are untouchable and Barry is on that list.

He still has no pace and relies on the fact he a smart player, gets in the right positions and doesn't get bullied to his advantage. But the day comes where his lack of pace is highlighted then we might see a hasty return of the angry midget.

De Jong for me along with Kompany has to be an automatic starter once fully fit again. He's the backbone of the team.
In my opinion regardless of how well others are playing Nigel is key to what we are doing. If we are playing attacking football as we seem to be we need someone can boss a midfield and break up play in the middle when things go wrong.Nodody in the premier league can do that as well as Nigel can.

Tough decisions ahead for Mancini.Love it.

if we continue to play this well I can't see a way back for Nigel until we play bigger teams.

Having said that, we will very soon start to see a lot of rotation and NDJ will claim back his status as one of the first names on the team sheet.

Anyway, keep up the great form Gazbaz!

Just get all the squad up to speed then pick the 11 best suited to each game; just make sure the strikers don't lose sharpness by leaving any out for too long.

DeJong, Barry, Milner, Yaya. All good players use them all as required & keep them fresh. No problem imo.

While I understand the angle of this player wont get in, that player etc, I don't really see it that way with this squad.. and that is mainly because all our current players are very very good. So I tend to look at what Bobby would be looking at confident that all his players can do the job asked of them.. it becomes more like the particular qualities of players suited to the game plan or opposition players/game plans. So I think that Barry and Milner can be the answer as much as Nige and Yaya can. Mancini has at his disposal a lot of subtle options.
That said as Ted says there is keeping everyone fresh and sharp. There is also the matter of 4 comps and there is the bigger agenda for Mancini, which is continuing to learn about his own players and prem oppositions. He still has to try out what combination and set up will stop Everton getting the better of us, a resurgent Liverpool is another new one. All the while looking to play our own game better and better.
many times last season it seemed like he didn't need to play Nige as the opposition were not going to get behind our midfield. That may be just being cautious by Bob, we may see him do a 180 this season and play 3 at the back for similar home games.
Either way there is a lot to learn and Mancini will be looking to get the most out of all the players, both in games and in their individual development. I see all the players getting used regularly.. in fact i will stick my neck out and say that we will use more of the squad than any other top prem team this season.
