Savic's Booking

I know that Fat Boy Dowd likes to book players so that he can have a break to catch his breath but some of his bookings today were ludicrous.

None more so than the yellow card he showed to Savic for entering the field of play before Aguero had left! I appreciate that there is probably some rule that he broke by coming on when he did but to book him was bloody ridiculous!

Surely at that stage of the game we should/would have been prone to bookings for time wasting and not for eagerness! Very poor decision and completely illogical.

I had a little problem with the fact he booked both our two defensive midfielders in the first 20 minutes in some situations when the card wasen't that necessary. That could had been a nasty situation if the score was lower.

That was my point exactly mate. The 4th official always tells a player when he can go on the pitch, always putting their hand across to stop them. A very, very strange decision from Dowd but one that I wasn't surprised with, he just loves them cards; does he get a bonus I wonder?

And were we worth 4 yellows, I think not. I think we had 9 miss-timed tackles to their 14 yet we got 4 yellows and they got 2, why was that Mr Dowd. Two of these came at a time when we were getting on top and his constant pulling up of our play at the time seemed to change the course of play in favour of Spurs.

Dowd was dead right. Savic may have been eager to get on but he's been playing football long enough to know the basic rules of coming on as a substitute.

Much as I hate to say this cos I can't stand the rotund little twat and much as I hope he gets siph, Dowd was actually right. What Savic did is a mandatory yellow card, as has been pointed out several times. It was however the only one of our bookings that was right.

It was interesting to note that he gave up dishing the cards out to our lads once the third and fourth goals went in and he was unable to influence the result.

Also interesting is that the only yellow cards we have received this season have been from this referee.

I don't know the rules re that card; seemed unreasonably harsh but if its mandatory then fair enough. One thing though; getting any kind of away victory at Spurs with Phil Dowd in charge is a monumental achievement. Pig faced clown.

If it is laid down that it is a bookable offence (I'm not sure whether it is or not) then Dowd had to do it. If he didn't, he would have been marked down by the ref's assessor and so become less likely to get high profile games in the future. Probably more of a stupid rule than a stupid decision.

I think that was the least of his problems, he doesn't allow play to flow and brakes the game up far to much. He does seem very keen on booking city players at the moment and I dont like the way he simply will not allow a city player to aproach him. Yet other teams dont get brushed away as much, not even the team captain!

He was talking about Dowd....I think.

Dowd was inconsistent.

He gave yellow cards out for fair challenges and then didn't get them out when a real dangerous challenge went flying.

Substitution procedure

To replace a player with a substitute, the following conditions must be observed:
• the referee must be informed before any proposed substitution is made
• the substitute only enters the field of play after the player being replaced has left and after receiving a signal from the referee
• the substitute only enters the field of play at the halfway line and during a stoppage in the match
• the substitution is completed when a substitute enters the field of play
• from that moment, the substitute becomes a player and the player he has replaced becomes a substituted player
• the substituted player takes no further part in the match
• all substitutes are subject to the authority and jurisdiction of the referee, whether called upon to play or not

Cautionable offences

A player is cautioned and shown the yellow card if he commits any of the following seven offences:
• unsporting behaviour
• dissent by word or action
• persistent infringement of the Laws of the Game
• delaying the restart of play
• failure to respect the required distance when play is restarted with a corner kick, free kick or throw-in
• entering or re-entering the field of play without the referee’s permission
• deliberately leaving the fi eld of play without the referee’s permission
