Agree. However, such a league's organiser would want several things:
Large support/interest
Europe-wide representation
Traditional rivalries
International brandnames, with clubs able to attract competitive sponsorship
However, at the same time, it wouldn't want geographic huddling of teams. So, I'd guess that would be either us or the Rags out. If it was 20 European teams, I'd go with something along the lines of:
4x England
Real & Barca
2x German (one of whom would be Bayern)
PSG & Marseille/Monaco
4x Italy (geographically spread)
2 of Galatasaray/Fenehbache/Besiktas (However, all 3 from Istanbul, so may be a problem)
One each from Ukraine, Russia, Portugal and the Netherlands
It would be pointless putting in just one of the Old Firm, as without the local rivalry, most of the fans wouldn't care. Scottish football wouldn't warrant two places. Although it might be controversial that I've put in two Turkish teams, there's a hell of a lot of money and support within Turkish football, which is what any promoter would be looking for in potential league candidates. Also, maybe one less from Italy and one more from Germany, due to immigration trends having an influence on which teams are watched worldwide.
