Not with the current regime in charge.

Possibly the only thing they're getting right.

really hope not - it is far too early in our progress for us to be at all confident that we would be included

Platini did a reasoned interview in one of the papers last week. Mostly talking about the other (real) problems - racism, violence, match fixing etc. The one quote about FFP he just said something like "sigh, I'm not sure where we go with this to be honest". He has also said how great it is for French football for PSG to be pumping in all that money! Rummenigge more or less told him stright that if he fucked about too much the clubs would run themselves.

The big clubs have the power. If UEFA attempt to wield their power under fair play it will lead to the major clubs forming their own league.I read somewhere that the clubs are only obligated to the Champions league for a couple more years.

The Champions League already serves the purpose of bringing the big clubs together. It generates tons of interest and massive money for the clubs. It might intrude on the domestic leagues, but it still allows them to operate with the best clubs participating. It rewards play in the domestic leagues.

Would probably be the top 20 clubs from here if it came to pass.

PSG have joined the rich club that completes the set not long before major talks/rumours start on breakaways IMHO. TV deal split between 18/20 clubs. The end of International football as we know it.

No it wouldn't, it would involve City & other clubs with money/connections. For a start, I guarantee City's owners would have a stake in the formation of it & the media companies that paid for it.

Agree. However, such a league's organiser would want several things:
Large support/interest
Europe-wide representation
Traditional rivalries
International brandnames, with clubs able to attract competitive sponsorship

However, at the same time, it wouldn't want geographic huddling of teams. So, I'd guess that would be either us or the Rags out. If it was 20 European teams, I'd go with something along the lines of:

4x England
Real & Barca
2x German (one of whom would be Bayern)
PSG & Marseille/Monaco
4x Italy (geographically spread)
2 of Galatasaray/Fenehbache/Besiktas (However, all 3 from Istanbul, so may be a problem)
One each from Ukraine, Russia, Portugal and the Netherlands

It would be pointless putting in just one of the Old Firm, as without the local rivalry, most of the fans wouldn't care. Scottish football wouldn't warrant two places. Although it might be controversial that I've put in two Turkish teams, there's a hell of a lot of money and support within Turkish football, which is what any promoter would be looking for in potential league candidates. Also, maybe one less from Italy and one more from Germany, due to immigration trends having an influence on which teams are watched worldwide.

I can't see Monaco getting in from the French second division.

Can't see there not being two Milan clubs as well.

It would be initiated by all the clubs with the most money/ power; City, Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, AC, Inter, Barca, Real, Bayern etc, then they would decide which clubs they wanted to join them, perhaps the Arse, Juve, Ajax . Some Russians would try very hard to get in & perhaps succeed because they have loads of money.

No Scots clubs would be invited as they are skint & a fucking pain in the arse.

Absolutely. Manchester and Milan have 4 of the biggest 10 clubs in Europe. Powerhouses. London with Chelsea and Arsenal too, I suppose.

A European super league already exists IMO called the CL.
I think the old G14 clubs know that by themselves they cannot attract enough sponsors without including clubs in domestic leagues all around Europe.
I think the format that the CL is now it is a European league and needs maybe a little adjusment but in general I think it provides all what a European league would provide.

A European super league only based on money ( money = power in football) , would see all the affected teams being removed from domestic leagues. It would lead to many stadia not being sold out and televised games. A worse alternative to FFP, and that idea from Platini is also crap and not workable, as Rummenigge pointed out. By the way, Karl Heinz , wasn't advocating anything like a super league, rather that the powers that be in football, the domestic leagues themselves, must regain the control of european football, if Uefa continue bing stupid.
