The way we've started the season it looks to me like Mancini has finally taken the handbreak off.

I wouldn't fancy any teams chances of stopping us scoring, even if they did park the bus

I was going to start a thread re this but I have to go away so I can't be arsed but I was just wondering, when Bob has switched to 3-5-2 in some games as an experiment, whether he may take it a step further in the home games.

Barca played one of our Chump's lg teams Villareal & they played 3-4-3 & fucking hammered them. When you consider several of Barca's 1st choice defence were actually unavailable, it shows what can be done, if you're confident enough to keep the ball.

It wouldn't take much for our 3-5-2, to become a 3-4-3, swap the fullbacks for AJ & Tevez for instance. Or take off Clichy & use Micah as the 3rd CB rather than bringing on Savic. Then you have all 3 subs available.

.......Micah Vinny Lescott
.....Silva DeJong Yaya Nasri
......Tevez Dzeko Aguero

Barca got away with it by flooding the oppo half when they lost the ball & grafting like fuck, causing them to kick it anywhere & lose possession. It's not impossible we could learn how to do the same against bus parkers, starting from 3-5-2 & gradually evolving.

Both the times when we've use d it have been when the third sub has been made (Savic both times) - maybe it is part of Mancini's longterm plan to use it and to use Savic in it, but it could equally still be a 'best-fit' for the players available to him on the pitch. If we use it with spare subs available to him (or without Savic) then you might be onto something.

I would love to see that some day.
a 3-4-3 formation with our players would be a thing of beauty. I can't see mancini ever doing it though.

Hopefully he puts out an incredibly attack minded team against Wigan.

I would love to see that line up too but similarly can't imagine Bob doing it.
If a team are gonna turn up at CIty with one shit striker, then Micah, Two's and Joleon should be more than enough.
Imagine the psychological effect on the oppo with that attacking talent on the pitch against them.

We want to get to the stage where teams turn up at our place knowing they are going to lose. So many teams go to Old Trafford and have lost the game before they've even walked out onto the pitch because they believe they haven't got a hope of winning. That was a key part of United winning 18 out of 19 home games last season.

If we can continue the incredible football we're playing, teams will be scared of playing us and will dread visiting us at home. If we can overturn Wigan and (especially) Everton at home by considerable margins in the next few weeks, then we'll go someway to start building that reputation.

Obviously I know these games won't be easy, but there's no reason we can't win comfortably if we play as we have been playing so far this season.

Spot on.
We might even get to the stage where teams bring weakened teams, saving players for games they target as a chance to win....a la Wolves at the sty.

My goodness, what a terrific thought; only a few years ago such a scenario would have been way beyond our wildest dreams.

I just hope that the 'International Break', that we're having to suffer this week, doesn't somehow interfere with the smooth progress we're making.

I like it, but I would worry about Lescott's lack of pace. Would it not make more sense to play Zabs or Clichy on the left in this formation? If the team has any real pace wide, this would put too much responisbility on Nasri defensively here, or force one of DeJong or Yaya to move a bit wider.

hart
Richards komps clichy
yaya
Nasri silva
Aguero tevez mario
dzeko

With AJ coming on for Hart for the last half hour. Unless mario's been sent off and tevez is refusing to pass again, in which case, get de jong, barry and hargreaves on quick
