I know there is another thread on napoli attendance that has a lot of this story already, but this needs its own thread

It has now made the nationals... Daily mail and manchester police are investigating - looks like the boys in blue could have the last laugh

I love it when arsehole like this think they are being smart and hard and end up with shit everywhere - themselves, their forum and their club - nice one boys!

United fans blasted after trying to incite violence at City's Champions League bow

A section of Manchester United fans have been branded 'despicable' for trying to provoke violence at rivals City's Champions League debut.

Messages designed to incite trouble were posted by users posing as City supporters on internet forums used by Napoli fans.

The Italian club travel to the Etihad Stadium on September 14 for City's bow in Europe's premier club competition, before hosting Roberto mancini's side on November 22.

The taunts were posted after one user posted on an unofficial United fans' message board: 'So are we all invading the Napoli forums pretending to be 'bitters' and winding them up?'

There followed instructions on what sites to visit and how to register.

Some City fans have since posted their own messages blaming United supporters for the provocative behaviour, according to the M.E.N.

Blackley and Broughton MP Graham Stringer, who is a United fan, said: 'There's enough trouble in football without people trying to wind it up.

'In a sense, it's despicable because people could get seriously hurt as a result of this.

'Any rivalry between United and City should remain on the pitch and not in Italy.'

Greater Manchester police have said they will investigate.

No need for this as Napoli's, recent visits to Liverpool and West Ham have been very interesting, the travelling support are a big mob in the main, expect high Police presence and plenty of action for the boys in blue.London Napoli, branch have themselfs down here for 4.30. Speaking with West Ham family they will be intent on trouble. WHUFC played them in a freindly and it was full on for the Police, I spoke to City on Sunday and they said they are inundated with calls from fans wanting tickets who have never contacted the club before have no purchase history and no UK address. Sounds like we are playing Millwall, which is who they follow in London....

Man I am so sick of hearing about the Munich air disaster. When I was back in Dublin two weekends ago I was talking with some Dublin Aulfella who has been living in Mnachester for the past 30+years. I told him that I was a City fan and as soon as he heard that he started going on about Munich and how City werent a real team and so on... I just told him to F8ck off and walked away.

It's fucking disgraceful that they would do that.

Hopefully the Napoli fans understand that it wasn't City fans.

Very wise, especially the away tie. I wouldn't go within 20 miles of Naples, football match or NOT.
Most violent city in Italy - Europe probably.

I hope the dibble don't shut the gate for that passage to the Townley after the game because that'll cause a massive cue to jump over, nice big target of fans! They usually shut it for the derby when they're really expecting trouble.

Wonder how the cowards in red would feel if uefa swapped the ties and untd play them instead. Would the instigators be going home and away? I think not . Stupid idiotic children will get someone killed. Pathetic.

I was in Naples with my mates in January and we got on grand. I found the locals very friendly and if you do your research you will be fine.

Just stay away from the Central Train Station as that is one dodgy area and the Mastiffs (Ultras)

Police warn troublemakers who target Manchester City Euro match in Italy will be 'severely dealt with'
September 06, 2011
Police say anyone trying to incite trouble between fans of Manchester City and Napoli will be ‘severely dealt with’.
The warning comes after the M.E.N. reported that a group of United supporters had taken to websites connected to the Italian club - pretending to be Blues fans and hurling insults in a bid to stoke up tensions ahead of the Champions League double header.
Blackley and Broughton MP Graham Stringer, himself a Reds supporter, branded their behaviour ‘despicable’.
Greater Manchester Police have revealed they are aware of the situation, which comes in the week before City entertain the Italian side next Wednesday.
Intelligence officers are keeping an eye on websites and officials at UEFA, European football’s governing body, are receiving updates on the situation.
It is understood planning meetings will take place this week ahead of the Etihad Stadium clash - which marks City’s first-ever appearance in the Champions League.
Napoli have asked for a full allocation of 2,600 tickets.
The M.E.N. can reveal officers have been liaising with counterparts in Merseyside after fan trouble marred Liverpool’s clash with the Italians last year.
A small minority of United fans responded to a rallying call on the Red Issue website, which has no official link to Old Trafford, to invade Napoli fans forums.
Chief Supt Mark Roberts said: “Anyone found to be trying to incite tensions and disorder will be severely dealt with. We are working closely with UEFA and both clubs and intend to keep them updated of any developments.”
