Following the Hargreaves signing I wondered if anyone knew who was the last City player to go directly to them? What's been the biggest transfer fee? And how long before they start signing our rejects?

On another note, pretty sure Hart would have gone to them this window if the Sheik had not saved us:-)

First reject they pick up from us... hm... maybe De Jong in like 5 years?

John Gidman came our way didn't he? I still remember him scoring a last minute free kick at Leeds Road to take the cup match against Huddersfield to a replay.

That bad, Doug?

Do you get a feel at training for how he's viewed by the rest of the players? Is it clear that the only reason he's there is that he's Bobby's lad?

Wonder does Baconface regret lending us Terry Cooke when we were in second division? He, along with Morrison, re ignited our season after a bad start and imo was one of the main reasons we got promoted that season...

O and Coton is the answer...

According to this site

http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/mancity/mancity.htm

there have only been two since 1947. Tony Coton and Wyn Davies. No mention of Matt Busby.

He doesn't train with the 1st team squad so I don't know how he trains.

As they've won quite a bit in the time since then, and we only won our first trophy 4 months ago, I doubt it's keeping him awake at night.

Cooke was a very good signing for us though at the time.

True, but if we don't get Cooke we don't get promoted and probably aren't where we are today!!! If we win the league this season he will sure as hell regret when he sees us lift the trophy....

He's about 80 and been shitfaced every day for the last 40. He won't even remember it.

I think Mat Busby moved to scum as manager
He played for CIty in cup finals in early 1930s

Dennis Law? Or did he go to Italy first?

Busby went to Liverpool from City and then became Utd manager.

Law went to Italy first and then went to Utd 1 year after leaving City.

Since the war there's been Wyn Davies and Tony Coton, but before the war there were quite a few - most famously Billy Meredith, Sandy Turnbull & Jimm Bannister as part of the follow up to the Illegal payments scandal.

There have been players like Peter Barnes who played for City and later Utd but not direct transfers.

Coming from Utd to City Gidman, Bodak, Law, Whelan, Fidler.... plus of course Peter Barnes when he came back.

In my book "The Pride of Manchester" (published 1991) I listed them all. There are quite a few but not many since the war either way.

We didn't sign Hargreaves from the scum, he was a free agent.
