i didn't but thinking about it logically, a goal kick should be treated in the same way as a throw in as you're returning the ball to open play after your opponents have put it out....

I didn't know that. So what's to stop the Stoke's of this world just pumping the ball straight up to Crouch from a goal-kick every time?

I knew, but did not find out untill about a year ago. Some international where spain or someone scored by having one guy far off side when the goalkick was taken. Apparently the opposition defence did not know either as they were sure the flag would go up.

I knew but I've seen offside given for that on more than one occasion, especially when we were in the lower leagues, & no complaints from the player(s) involved, which suggests that they didn't know the rules.

I'm fairly sure that I've seen Refs give offside decisions for such situations. Is it that even the Refs (or some of them) don't know about this rule ?

I seems to remember Ade being caught offside on many occassions after a goal kick. Maybe I am wrong. It will need a bit of reaserch.
Sound pretty simple to lob the ball forward by the goalie to a player in an offside position but we haven't seen many goals scored from this kind of play !

most of ade's offsides were when hart kicked the ball from his hands, thats offside, only from a goal kick is there no offside

Thanks for pointing out that. I'll now start looking more closely at such situations !

I sense a new FM tactic being devised right now.

Same here.

I knew about it and yet seen it given loads of times.

I've used it a couple of times to advantage during matches.

yes I knew that as we once had ref Semi Final L & C Rhodes cup who attepted to disallow a goal from goal kick until the linesman intervened. We had the same loon again the following season and he did it again. P. D You have been outed.
