Garry Cook's Replacement?

What are your thoughts on who will take his place at the club?

Who do you think will get the job and who do you want to get the job?

Personally I would have loved to see John Wardle back at the helm. He is a Blue, he knows and loves the club, is well respected and always does what is best for the club. Unfortunately I have been told that this is 'definitely not' going to happen.

David Bernstein is another bloke who I thought was very good for the club but I can't see him leaving his current job somehow.

Who does that leave then? Peter Kenyon? Franny Lee? Brian Marwood?

A young dynamic visionary is needed to take us to the next level. I'd apply but I'm busy doing my sock draw.

Not sure I want a football man, more a business man with previous experience in challenging new markets.

I heard somewhere that Cook was due to leave in a year or two no matter what happened. That made me wonder if they were preapring Vieira to take on the role in 2013.

John Wardle would be a great choice but, in all honesty, pretty much anyone other than Peter Kenyon and I'd be happy. Don't want Franny Lee back though - he brought even worse fortune than that fucking gypsy curse!

Cook's job is more related to the marketing & pr side than the traditional football club management thing. We need someone as high powered as him in the international marketing world, to promote the club abroad & bring in more revenue etc. Someone like Williams can do the day to day stuff at home.

Unless we just give Cook that job under another description of course. I recon it's already sorted anyway, it's just the timing which requires some waiting on our behalf.

Prob already mentioned in another thread but i was reading this last night.
Purely speculative with no quotes.

Inter Milan technical director Marco Branca has emerged as a contender for a senior role at Manchester City following the departure of chief executive Garry Cook and doubts about the future of his sidekick, football administrator Brian Marwood.
Manager Roberto Mancini is backing Branca after winning his long-term power struggle with Cook, who quit on Friday after sending an offensive email to Dr Anthonia Onuoha, mother of City defender Nedum, apparently mocking her battle against cancer.

Branca played with Mancini at Sampdoria and was also sporting director at Inter when they won three Serie A titles.
He scored nine goals in 11 games for Middlesbrough in 1998 towards the end of his playing career.
John Macbeath, a City director for 18 months, is currently the acting chief executive.
Former Blackburn chairman John Williams had been working at City in the transfer window trying to cut the size of their squad.

Cook's not a sporting director though. If this bloke was coming in , it would surely mean Marwood is for the chop. If Marwood goes, he will cause us all manner of shit.

We don't need a football man, and no offence to Vieira but he isn't what we need, which is a businessman pure and simple. PR, advertising, marketing and revenue growth are the priorities for that role. I bet they will have someone lined up, CEO's usually have a short lifespan anyway. We can certainly afford to pluck the best from the business world.

Agreed, didn't Kippax mention some guy that is heading up Tesco in Asia, that seems much more in line with what we need.

Not a celebrity one though - we'd end up with Jedward.

I hope Kaldoon appoints someone he knows (or knows of) personally. I trust his judgement.

Just hope it's somebody who carries on giving the fans and community aspects of the club the same priority as Cook did.
