And visiting fans will be relocated to the 3rd tier. Full story on OS:

Will be interesting to see how that works out. Also mentioned this will be likely to be repeated later in the season

I think 'singing' section is probably the clubs way of saying 'standing' section as much as anything.

I think it's a great idea. Shove the away fans in the Gods and let people who want to stand all game do so without any fuss.

I personally thought the atmosphere v Napoli was one of the worst I've seen in ages.

A total waste as VR will bring three men and his dog. The worst away support anywhere. Might as well give them one of the many empty corporate boxes. They took about 200 to the EL semi in Porto , an hour or so by plane

I think this is a great idea that should seriously be looked at for all games. Why put the away fans right in between the two main "singing sections" of our fans, with a half decent view and so there players can here there support. At the moment i think this has a real negative effect on the atmosphere. Shove all away fans in the gods. Although getting pissed on from 100 foot might be a problem.

Be interesting to see if it works, as I think the reason SS and south stand get the atmosphere going is because of the away fans being there just like Maine Rd.
I'm in 110 and usually its a great atmosphere, problem is it seems to stop dead around 108 or 109 and is rarely in sync with the south stand.

Spot on mate, the banter between the fans is a big part of the atmosphere, would the poznan have been born if the fans were not allowed in the South Stand? I personally doubt it.

stick them up there and there will be no atmosphere at all. There have been games at both the Etihad and Maine Rd where the South Stand/East Stand or North Stand/Kippax have been singing abuse at each other, as there were so few away fans or they were so quiet. It's funny for the odd game, but it'd get pretty boring if it was every week.

The most vocal City fans should be either side of the away fans. If you then get a vocal away support, it's up to the home fans to drown them out. If we can't out sing the away fans, that's our problem, not theirs for being in the wrong place.

One thing I'd like to hear is the chant you get from European teams where they all do it together. The Napoli fans were doing it last week. One of them shouts something out and the rest respond, more as a shout than a song. No idea what they were saying, but even from the family stand it sounded incredibly clear and loud. For some reason, it's much louder than when they sing as well. Translation from one of our foreign fans would be nice as a start.

Everton have one like this... I'm sure we'll hear it on Saturday.... Goes on forever, lists all their 'legends'.

That Napoli one was fierce. Especially intimidating in a foreign language, shall we get a translation and just nick it outright ;)

The best part of this is finally the penny has dropped and away fans will be plonked into the third tier. They should be moved permanently up there for all games, end of.

Anyone who's sat in the third tier will know you feel like you are a mile away from the game and plonking fans right up in the gods is a tactic thats already employed by many others.

I think this could work, with all the hardcore getting together in the south stand. Might even get a bit of atmos up in the third next to they away fans. Its just up to us to make the best of it.

If the away fans are in the side blocks of the 3rd, they might still be just about close enough to keep the banter.

Away fans should be in the Colin Bell top tier next to North stand, out of the way and with the fans that do one 20 mins top go. As for Villareal they will bring 50-200 max.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I Know I'm not though), but remember Maine Road? Where were the away fans there? Oh yes.... thats right.... in between the Kippax and The North Stand. This means that the away fans NOW are still in between the same group of fans as they were at MR but MR had a much better atmosphere.... no?

The two tier system that we have COMS (Cough ETIHAD) is the problem, the atmosphere doesnt get above the first tier? The North stand at Maine Road was one tier, which was as big as (Or maybe slightly smaller) both tiers of the South Stand.

So what happens when we move the away fans then? That void is filled by the fans who pick and choose their games and dont really know the songs, or want to stand etc.... rememebr Wigan last year and that whole block sat down all game!

Moving the away fans will have Zero affect on the atmosphere.... it might make it worse because the banter between us and opposing fans will have gone!!!

The roof is a problem also, at MR the Roof kept a lot of the noise in, as the roofs were big and the noise echoed around beneath them.... at COMS the roofs are tiny and usually slope upwards so none of the noise is retained inside the stadium..... the acoustics are gash and dont lend themselves to creating an intense rich atmosophere like we had at MR.

Anyway, rant over now!
