Why has it not been mentioned anywhere that it was clearly offside!?

I thought at the time that Gomez was off when the Bayern player flicked it on but rewound after and I'm positive that he was onside.
The ref had almost as bad a game as some of our players though. Both our penalty shouts and Konpany's block on Riberry were define penalties.

More concerned about the absolute shite defending. And he was inactive until after the initial header.

He was onside (I think) but anyway, the goal wasn't caused by a refereeing decision it was caused by Barry completely switching off at a set piece.

True, watching it in a bar in "old München" after the game Gomez looked onside.

Just watched it again... think Kolo's right foot just plays him onside, but it is very close, probably as close as it gets to being onside. Still it wasn't even mentioned at all on any tv coverage!

...i dont get why someone said it was Barry's fault

because Barry is target number one when Lescott isnt playing ( or is it 2 after Yaya?)

Barry is the first man defending the free kick. He is watching the ball when he should be less square on to enable him to see both the ball AND the Bayern forward, then he would have been able to take that extra step forward to stop the flick on.

Barry can do no wrong in some peoples eyes ( These eyes obviously need medical attention ASAP)

It was just a good freekick! You can't expect Barry to anticipate EXACTLY where the delivery is going to be, thats just rediculous! If the blame is anyones it is Kolo Toure's for concentrating to hard on his man and not reacting to the save, but as i say he was so close to being offside he might not have got to it first anyway.

Sorry but it's basic defending from that kind of free kick. You CAN expect Barry to anticipate the zone where the delivery might be made to - he didn't, and more to the point. he didn't give himself a chance to do so.

From inside the stadium it looked like the whole team switched off. Our vantage point ie higher than at newcastle you could see the whole picture, and they all turned off.

And that sir is why no one has mentioned it being offside. Because it wasn't. Not even close.

Oh, it was close, but level is onside.

If you are the kind of City fan who needs to have someone to blame for everything, how about blaming the bloke who stupidly gave away the free-kick in the first place?

I have seen it 3 or 4 times and it was off side on each occasion in my opinion, the attacker had hes head ahead of the line of defense and that is Offside in anyones rules

I agree I said this on the night and have also reviewed it many times since. It definitely appears 100% offside!
Problem is the usual camera view along the line wasnt used.
Having said that it doesnt matter now. Ditto with the two penalty appeals. I dont expect as high standard of refereeing in CL as we get in the PL.

Certainly not away from home or against "big" teams who have won the competition before.
