The "Heart" goal celebration...

Tried to find a pic to describe it, but couldn't. Basically, a player makes a heart shape with their index fingers and thumbs when they score.
Does anyone know what it's about? Mainly performed by players with Mediterranean/South American roots, it seems.

Probably an expression of some kinda love. Zabaleta did it after the cup final:

Bale does it too. Maybe they're doing it for their gfs?

It's so common and so sudden, though, that it would suggest that there's some deeper symbolism behind it. On Eurogoals, about 1 in 3 goals were celebrated with it the other day...

Its just a stupid hand sign that was made up by 13 year old girls when taking their facebook display pictures.
It must have caught on with mature heterosexual men too. Don't quite know how or why.

I hate it.
I think it's most of the times aimed at the fans, showing that they "love" them.
Have also seen it aimed at the tv camera, and imagine that it's then aimed at some bird or bloke the player fancies.
"If I score tonight, I will heart you - promise you will watch!"

I still think the 'toilet' celebration is the best one I've seen to date ...

Me too. Just trying to find out the root of it. Oddly enough, it seemed to be pretty dominant in the Dutch league.

Zabs and quite a few other footballers are keen on the old social media (Twitter etc) so maybe it's from that.

in celebration of most of the girls footballers date, I think they should do a spitroast celebration.
Unless your certain footballers, in which case a slapping a girl celebration would be more appropriate.
