One of the journo's close to him is saying that he is finding it tough commuting back to his family who he is getting very little time with. Ellis Short is taking over the running of the club which I find strange, maybe just in the interim.

As soon as I heard it I thought that Niall had staked his reputation on Steve Bruce and possibly didn't have the cahoney's to sack him and taking a sidewards step was a way of the club not losing face.

Is the door open for Bruce as well?

I'd be disappointed if the Shiek was considering Bruce as a replacement for Cook.

Ha ha ha, didn't quite sound right did it.

Don't get me wrong I love Quinn teh player, However crowds at SAFC are at 34,000 the manager is a mong would you not be looking at protecting your investment if you were the owner, Has NQ done anything special, which is what we need at our club.

Sunderland fans have always been fickle. they desert in droves.
Maybe with better circumstances to work in Niall would be just fine with City.
I can't say anything bad about him. My second favourite City hero and an all round good egg.
I'd be happy to have him at City in some capacity.
He has appointed shit managers at Sunderland though.

Ellis Short mentioned the worry about Sunderland complying with FFP. Someone ought to tell him it means fuck-all in the PL, it's only in Europe. And I dont see that applying to Sunderland anytime soon!

Nothing back Pics I agree,The value of the CEO is largley never seen , unless you look at Arsenal, One mess after another, with players contracts, prices etc.The Manager has no lack of power and that is the problem, for me CEO is all biz, Look at Barca, the President delivers of the pitch nothing else. The Manager delivers trophy's. For us to satify the owners for ever, we will need to deliver on and off the pitch Coach, coaches,CEO, provides the enviroment, NQ would be welcome I agree top bloke for the fans, but never never the best candidate IMHO for what is the richest and most ambitious club on the planet.

If Quinn came on board we'd loes a fortune as most of our sponsorship deals would be switched to Ireland. Not a good move considering the Euro at the mo .... and they don't pay as much of course

I would imagine that, as Cook's family had already moved out, we can assume he was about to follow in the not too distant future, so I'd be very surprised if his successor hadn't already been approached & probably signed up. Said bloke is probably seeing out his contract at wherever, in advance of moving to City at the date which was agreed previous to Cook's mishap. It may not be possible for him to leave his current job earlier, as I presume someone of that calibre will themselves be difficult to replace.
