Just having a look at this on the bbc....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15275218.stm

Its not the first time the need for reform has been highlighted by the government. I've just not really heard any recommendations from them.

"overhaul" "intervention" "new legislation" - all being banded about quite freely, but im struggling to understand what the Gov' is proposing that the FA do.

Dont get me wrong im quite aware that things arent right - but can anyone shed any light on whether the gov' have specified anything they would like to do?

Two parter this one - what do people on here think needs to be done?

With this, Platini & FIFA, allied to the shot accross the bows today from the scousers about doing their own deals for TV broadcasts, the possibility of breakaway leagues moves another step closer.

Not impressed with what the dippers have come out and said today. Neither are a lot of their fans by the sounds of it. Sounds like a team on the slide that’s now willing to fuck over the rest of the smaller teams to increase their chances of a European slot. If it goes the way they want it to I imagine there’ll be even more teams going down the financial shitter.

I have a massive hatred for Liverpool as it is. It wasn’t so long ago we were one of the ‘smaller’ teams who they’re now happy to cut out from the TV spoils.

From the beeb:

The government has identified three "immediate priorities" for action: a complete restructuring of the FA Board, the implementation of an FA-administered licensing system for the professional game and significant changes to the make-up and processes of the "football's parliament", the FA Council.

hmmm

This Government are appalling; everything they touch, they destroy. Football is hardly perfect, but letting this lot get involved on any legislative level is not good.

Where's the surprise with Liverpool F.C.?
They were one of five clubs who threatened breakaway if they didn't get to keep home gate money.
They were one of the clubs who threatened breakaway over t.v money.
They were one of the clubs that threatened a breakaway Euro Superleague that was appeased with the half cocked Champions league.
they were one of the bully boy G14.
They have been at the the forefront of everything bad about football along with the Filth and Arse.
They are a greedy bunch of self serving cunts.

Somebody needs to explain, for good competition, they need somebody to play against.

The useless fuckin coalition should look to sort out unemployment and poverty before sticking their noses in to the national game. CUNTS.

i think liverpools new owners have already realised they cant compete with the big 3.
so this is their way of giving king kenny some more money to waste.
because another season without chumps league and they will be struggling.

Firstly, English football owe £3.5 billion, Britain owes £2266.3 billion you morons!

Secondly, UEFA relised this and introduced financial fair play rules which are just beginning to have an effect whilst our gov decided recession was the best way to repay our debt

Finally, if both UEFA and the coalition were to have their photos taken at this very precise moment, when things are pretty fucling dire, they would both crack a huge cheesy grin and stick their thumbs up

Is this just the English FA, or also the three others that are within the nation controlled by the British government?

BBC were reporting that the government were unhappy about the premier league bias on the FA board. PL has four representatives with ex PL chairman and deputy chairman whereas the football league only has two. Money talks I suppose.
