Touch of a lamp post?

What has happened to him, looks back to last season's form.

To be fair everyone was poor today..we all know Edin has the ability..I think that lone striker role Bobby started with doesn't do him any favours..it's clear he's not up to the job..he needs to play with a strike partner

Tonight - i could have played better. seriously. hope he comes good, and gets a bit of help from a "strike partner".

he is very, very fit though.

Nothing worked for him tonight. He had a couple of good chances, should've burried one of them though. On the whole he didn't get much good service from Silva and Nasri who were both dissappointing tonight.

Not good enough in my opinion, everything that goes in to him bounces off him.

I think he didn't have any good ball to work with. He missed two because (i think) he thought he was offside and he didn't strike the ball well. Imho, seeing him today will make Balo start sunday.

Needs a run of games (and goals).

Worst thing that could have happened to him was being 'rotated'.

I'd still play Balotelli against the rags though - even though I know the risks of that.

I couldn't agree more. He was shite, poor first touch, etc, but as i said, he didn't had any balls to work with and was a little complacent in some occasions.

Bang on. He was just getting into his stride.
Also don't think he plays well as the lone striker. Needs a mate (Kun) up there with him.

He really doesn't suit rotation, does he? Too much time for him to dwell on what might go wrong, then he becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

He can't play the lone role for me. Needs to be partnered like at Spuds.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

I think he already self-destructed, five seconds after his final post on the 'penalty' thread.

I also think that he doesn't play well as a lone striker, however, you can't use that as an excuse for him tonight as when he was presented with opportunities to score (as he was on 3 occasions in the second half) his finishing was awful. As others have pointed out, Silva and Nasri were also poor tonight, but the reason why I think a thread has been started about Dzeko is because he has been poor since the Wigan game and his game seems to be regressing back to the way it was last season - i.e. crap first touch, crap finishing and an overall appearance of lethargy
