Newcastle sold out/not enough seats at Etihad?

1 seat left I make it.
Just got 2 tickets on Tuesday, in 215 above the away fans. Never been there before, we usually inhabit the Upper Kippax, but all gone early.
Amazing groundswell of support suddenly appearing, all around the world really.
Maybe the new stadium expansion doubters will now (start to) realise that anything is possible, given success?

If we add an average 2k per year, in about ten years we're averaging close to the rags. 4k per year & we're close in five years. In the 70's when we won the league cup, we went up about 10k in about a year either side, without Sky, worldwide coverage or anything.
If we continue to play great, attacking football, they will come (if the fucking ticket office allows them) .

The money men wont like losing revenue. I wonder what the average spend per head is including admission? (Excluding STs of course). Because if we could've sold an extra 5,000 per match so far, if sph were, say, £30, then we lose £150,000 per match. As Newcastle is 3 weeks away I would go so far as to say right now we could have made that game 60,000, and God knows what Utd and Liverpool might end up.
Then look at the time it takes to build an extension and it starts racking up into millions.
Maybe there is some 'demand line' they agreed to cross before they make announcements, as I hope they have tentative plans at the very least?

There's also the fact that when grounds are expanded, fans often turn up to have a look. If they like it, a certain number stay. Keegan's team was up nearly 10k from Maine Rd. Pearce almost got rid of them of course, but the potential to put an instant 10k on our gates is there imo. From there anything is possible.

According to the swiss ramble, we earn about a million pound a home game compared to united's 3 million a home game.
Which suggests that the it would be more to do with ticket prices than it would seats as they've 1.6 times the number seats and they've 3 times the revenue. I don't think city could increase the ticket prices any further, as seen, the champions leauge tickets didn't sell out and they were only £25. I think if we were to maintain ticket prices and increase the capacity to 65,000+ that would bring us more in line with the top clubs.
Just as another comparison liverpool earn £43 million from their 45,000 seat stadium.

I think the difference with Scum is down to corporates mate. They have vast numbers, whereas I'm pretty sure we rarely sell out our limited capacity. It's logical given the relative success (or not) over 20 years, but it will change.
A key thing is probably the appointment of the new chief exec.

Their most expensive seats are probably much dearer than ours too & they probably have more of them. If we put prices up, we'll drive people away before they even become regulars, so it would make sense to try & make up the shortfall in the corporate sector.
As you say, that should change, especially if we continue to play the kind of football we do now.

Incidentally these tickets are all gone on the site, the match is no longer available.
They haven't put up the 'sold out' notice yet, probably to persuade any callers to buy the aforementioned corporate tickets!

Not in a million years should we expand the stadium, not having all these glory hunters from stretford over. sick of all these people with cameras as it is. Yes I know you'll say it's bound to happen because were good now. But I think its a really bad idea.

I think we should ban everyone who became a City fan after 1976.

what a miserable statement?!?!?
Precisely why could someone taking photos bother you so much??? Have you never been to the Camp Nou or Bernabeu or San Siro or any other new ground and taken a photo on your phone or whatever?? I know I certainly have and I'm positive I'm not alone.
In any event we 100% should get cracking on expanding the ground

What if these fans who have sold it out fuck off early to watch the X factor.
I would not be at all miffed by it but I do not go so what I think as to what happens probably is not that important. However it would be nice to know how the hardcore felt about the gloryhunters who as a spectacle make us look better by selling the game out however can't be arsed staying till the final whistle.

It's not just the 'new' fans who do that, it's a cross section of fans who have started doing it for some reason. Some of the so called gloryhunters would probably be more likely to stay til the end, as it's a day out for them & they have nowhere else they would rather be.
