Abdul Razak has joined Portsmouth on loan until the end of December.
The all-action Ivorian midfielder, 18, made his City debut last February as a substitute against West Brom, but he has started both of the Blues’ Carling Cup ties this season.

Pompey are 16th in the NPower Championship and currently are under the caretaker stewardship of Guy Whittingham, following the recent departure of Steve Cotterill to Nottingham Forest.Having been part of the senior squad for around a year, Abdul is sure to improve with the experience of regular games, and we wish him well at Fratton Park.

Seems our plans for the rest of the Carling Cup are clear.

Portsmouth have confirmed the signing of midfielder Abdul Razak on loan from Manchester City.

Skysports.com revealed Pompey were leading the chase for the 18-year-old midfielder, and now they have confirmed his arrival.

The Ivorian is on the fringes of Roberto Mancini's first-team squad and has already made his debut for City.

City, though, are keen for Razak to gain further experience and have agreed to let him move to Fratton Park for the next month.

Pompey co-caretaker manager Guy Whittingham said: "Abdul is a gifted midfield player who Manchester City think very highly of.

"It's a great opportunity for him to come here and get some experience and we're looking forward to him being part of the squad.

"We're very fortunate to have him and we're grateful to Manchester City for that."

City boss Roberto Mancini said: "He's a talented footballer and a very good young man. I believe he has the ability to become a very important player for Manchester City."

Razak has been signed in time to be included in Portsmouth's squad for the game with Derby this weekend.

As pointed out above, it also hints that we wont be fielding the gnomes anymore in the CC, which is good policy given we are into the last 8.

I don't think it's fitness that's a problem I think it's hydration, he needs to hydrate the morning of the match or preferably the day before) and keep topping up until an hour or hour and a half before kickoff - provided he's eating a balanced diet (which they all should be doing) he shouldn't have cramps if he does this. He's not likely to have an underlying medical condition or he wouldn't be a professional sportsman - so it's most likely to be exercise related, and using my own experiences of sodium loss as a result of dehydration it's easy to prevent.

Hope you're being sarcastic because he had a great game. He switched the play of attack for the first goal, then for the last goal it was Razak who stole the ball and drove forward for the attack.

Considering his age and inexperience I thought the lad did well in both CC games. Bags of energy and commitment and decent ball player too. With him , Abu and Ibra things are looking good in central midfield for the future. I would expect one of those 3 to make it big time whether at City or elsewhere

He is from the Ivory Coast. It is not beyond the realms of possiblity that he could be going to the Africa Nations himself. A few injuries to midfielders...

Skysports.com understands Manchester City starlet Abdul Razak is poised to sign a new three-year contract with the club.

The 18-year-old midfielder joined Portsmouth on a month's loan last week to gain first-team football experience.

However, the Ivory Coast-born dynamo is very much part of Roberto Mancini's plans for the future.

The Italian views the teenager as one of the few youngsters within the club that can make an impact on his star-studded squad.

Razak joined the club from Crystal Palace last July and his rapid progress at Eastlands with the Elite Development Squad propelled him to his debut against West Brom in February.

He was handed his debut by Pompey in their 3-1 defeat against Derby on Saturday as a second-half substitute, and Mancini will be watching Razak's progress closely as he seeks to unleash his talent for City.

"He's a talented footballer and a very good young man. I believe he has the ability to become a very important player for Manchester City," said Mancini.

Of all the young lads to play against wolves, he was the least impressive. I didn't think he showed forward movement enough and lost the ball far to much. I know he is still young but the others looked to be great propects, only time will tell.

He looked great against Brum though. He's had two games. One really good, one just average. I consider him a prospect.
