I don't think we'll be surprised by the result.

How is Tevez not in this list??? Also why is Wenger in the coach one?? They have won nothing in 6 years. Being a tad bit biased but at least Mancini got us into the Champions League and won us our first pot for 36 years. Does that not warrant a vote?? Actually who does the voting and how does it work?

For the last couple of years the voting process has changed. Before 2009 there were two awards:
- Balon d'Or
- FIFA player of the year
the first was voted by a small selected committee of journalists worldwide while for the second every manager and skipper of the 200+ FAs associated to FIFA was asked to give his personal top 3, and this is the reason why f.e. Zidane won it many times.
Now the system is a mix of the two and it's one of the causes why Messi is going possibly into double figures before his career is over. Who do you think the skipper of the Central Africa Republic, the manager of the Maldives or the skipper or American Samoa will say has been the most outstanding player in 2011?

That's an excellent point. Makes you wonder what the criteria for being nominated are. I would have thought that winning trophies would be the most important one for a manager. Clearly not

Yep, he performed better than Hughes at Fulham so he deserves to be on the list

It's beyond me how Silva is not nominated. And what did Arsène Wenger do to be part of the shortlist?!

Yeah, I went through that list again and thought it was surprising that he was missing.
Then again, Sneijder last season was nominated, won the treble with Inter, got in team of the year in the world cup, was tied top scorer and got second in the world cup, yet he wasn't even in the top 3...

These self pat on the back awards really are a crook of shit ... they are as meaningful as Garth Crook's Team of the week selections ...
