Give me Lezzer any day, for all the shit he gets on here. Alex and probably even Ivanovic are much more accomplished centre halves. But Chelsea's defensive problems began the day Carvalho left.

From what I've seen Luiz seems more of a midfielder than defender. AVB seems to be giving Chelsea free rein to go forward but doesnt seem to insist on other team mates covering the gaps as Mancini does.

Luiz is a good footballer, he just isnt a centre half at all as he goes walkies all over the place and cant wait to get forward.

Quite where he fits into Chelsea's line-up, Im not sure, but that thankfully is their problem and not ours. Good player, but bit of a square peg into a round hole. Id possibly suggest anchor midfield, but again he does tend to wander out of position. Got an eye for a goal, a good touch and can pick a pass so maybe a cent midfield position suits him best.

Luiz can play he just has the gallops problem he goes forward like a loon and stands watching as the player he was marking taps home.

He's got all the attributes to be a great full back. Should be played there.

TBH, the way he plays I thought he was a full back, but then I must admit, I don't watch much Chelsea.

I said when they signed him; the bloke is a walking nightmare at CB. Whether he can learn to sort out his many weaknesses I don't know but I don't see why they should bother trying. He looks like an exceptional midfielder in the making & I don't understand why they don't just play him there. He's potentially world class as a midfielder imo but he needs to learn it now.

Savic also looks to me as if he could be trained as a midfield player although tbf he may find it easier than Sideshow Bob to adapt to the PL as a CB. I think having a midfield player with good feet who is strong defensively is an asset to any team though, & both could easily do that job as it's not so crucial to be perfect defesively as when playing CB. Savic will probably be stronger defensively but without the flair of Luiz.

To be honest, I love his music. I do. For my money, I don't think it gets any better than when he sings "When a Man Loves a Woman."

Agreed. He's much more of a Yaya Toure type...attacking-defensive midfielder. As a pure center half he is a liability
he makes stupid challenges that get him carded and gives away fouls too close to goal and even penalties.
However, he's got one hell of a shot on him...

What was the story behind Zhirkov being allowed to go? I thought he was a great squad player.

Probs wanted to recoup some money. And Zhirkov wanted to go as well probably. Barely ever played.

See I can't see Luiz in midfield for some reason. I genuinely don't think he has the positional awareness. I think he'd just disappear constantly.

Tbh, I think he should just play five aside football. He'd be sorted then.

Depends if he's willing to be a team player or not. If he's greedy & headless then he won't make it but if he just sits in front of the back 4 like DeJong & then sprays passes around, making the odd run from deep, I think he could be worth 60 million quid.

He killed my hopes that he'd turn into a midfielder with that...although he is Brazilian so i guess its expected.

Seems like we dodged a couple of bullets with Luiz and Terry. Phew!

Luiz is mad as a hatter, glad we dodged him tbh, looks like getting sent off every time i've seen him play. Bags of talent though, bit of a shame he's mental.

Tbh I rate Savic as a greater prospect long term though, trying not to be biased, I really do think Savic could be Vidic-esk in a few years.

There's something class about him.
