ITV coverage

Thought the commentary was OK, but that clown of a presenter is absolutely dire.

They only have 15 minutes before the match but he spent 10 simpering like a little schoolgirl about Keane and Vieira in the past. Fuck all to do with City or the match.

And WTF was Keane doing there?

Actually Keane was alright if you forgive his comment that the rags could win the chumps league -better than southgate who got carried away we could win it, for our first year & with barring us facing Barca with them having as many injuries as Villareal had last night I can't see it - plus Real are no pushovers & Bayern proved a very tough test.

Was delighted that I could spend a chumps league evening watching CITY on ITV :)

What a crap presentation, not a patch on Sky or even ESPN (not good) & some of the comments from pundits & commentators were dire. Where does Jim Beglin get to be an expert on all things City. The only thing he was an expert on in his playing days were the pies

Terrible coverage. 15 minutes build up - 10 minutes of that was adverts.

Played a half assed emotive video to 'get us in the mood', then (forgot his name) commentator reels of statistic after statistic all game.

But, as mentioned, i'd rather it be on ITV with shit coverage every week than have it on sky and have to go to the local and sit with rags all night.

Watching Keane admitting that city were a great team was also fun too, dont know what the fuck he was doing there in the first place though! Keep him well away from our players.

It was baffling. The programme started with a montage (unless I dreamt it) of some excellent goals from the past few months, but when the actual show itself started I was wondering what was going on. I could understand Vieira being there if he was still playing for us, but he played for one season and is now a coach. Hardly "Mr City". As for Roy Keane... Jesus Christ, talk about irrelevant.

They spent the whole of one of their brief breaks between adverts, talking about how wonderful K**ne & Vieira's battles once were. No mention of City whatsoever until they asked Vieira ten seconds before the break. The only reason Vieira was invited on, was to talk about Roy K***e, not City.

I'm thinking Keane was there to pacify ITV Football's usual Wednesday night viewers, who must have been getting withdrawal symptoms.

Did anyone watch the beginning of the coverage on ITV4 from 7 o'clock? I had it on and honestly couldn't remember a thing they said!

I thought the commentary was ok, there was not a single thing insightful. I'm not a fan of having commentators laud up their own opinions but I suppose its the SKY/WWE perogative of trying to tell a story and give the match some context.

I think everyone has the same opinion of watching anything on ITV, get in, watch and get out before the adverts melt your brain

Chiles needs a smack, he's frickin' useless. What were all the 'Money Bags' statements in every sentence all about?

Whoever hired Chiles needs shooting, then kicking, and then shooting again just to make sure.

An absolutely awful presenter, who thinks he's witty and that you are actually tuning in to watch him. He is to presenting what Carlton Palmer is to international football.

I wasn't best pleased, to put it lightly, seeing that rag tw*t as a co-commentator but the group as a whole were dire in producing any pre-match build up for either team or half time analysis. Outside of the game I wished for the genius, snigger, of Pat Nevin and Colin Murray on channel 5!

Southgate tried to do a job but failed because he didn't talk enough about the battle between Vieira at Arsenal and that git. The West Brom guy talked more about the baggies than he did Villarreal! I normally expect an Arsenal love in from football focus but not from a Champs League game between Villarreal and City. I've watched ESPN a few times this season and they made Jamie Redknapp look like a tactical mastermind and Keegan like a philosopher!

Well done to the City fans giving THAT prick some at half time about the derby win and Alfie Haaland!

You should try listening to Gordon Strachan on ITV 4 at the moment. He's used the word "character" (referring to himself, by the way) about twenty times in half an hour. Between the adverts, of course. Self satisfied tosser.

Jim Beglin slagged us off all last season saying we won't win anything because we have no team spirit etc. And last night he hardly had a bad word to say, still think he's a cnut though and a truly awful commentator.

Keane was in the chairman's lounge on Saturday for the Wolves game, now he's kissing up to us on national television.

New CEO?

I think it is a bit odd that people get worked up watching pundits who they have a good idea are going to say stuff that is going to be full of shit or not very illuminating.
Then when they do not shower us with compliments cos of whatever reasons,it seems the people who have decided to watch the pundits get themselves agitated for stuff being said that was going to be non complmentary to us.
People know what to expect from these shows and it strikes me as a bit niave if you let what they say get under your skin.

"I think it's a bit odd"

You can drop this bit in future, we know. 90% of your posts begin with this phrase so we can take it as a given.

Strachan was very complimentary about City on ITV just now. No hidden barbed comments, snidey money related digs or slaughtering of the opposition, just compliments on how well we're playing. Makes a refreshing change.
