I watched the replay of his injury on the TV. It looked like a knee to the muscle. Probably bad bruise to the muscle, (I hope its not his kidney!)
He was obviously in a lot of pain. I would be happiest if we gave him a rest for QPR. Hoping Spain do the same for their 2 friendlies. The first one England!
We have 8 season defining games in the month after the international break and we need him fit for those.
Newcastle (H) PL
Napoli (A) CL,
Liverpool (A) PL,
Arsenal (A) CC,
Norwich (H) PL,
Bayern Munich (H) CL,
Chelsea (A) PL
Arsenal (H) PL
Except for Norwich they are all regular CL teams/current top four PL. We have not won at Arsenal for 36 years lets hope this season continues to be a record breaking

Plain Speaking.... 8 season defining games in one month sounds like mumbo jumbo to me

Perhaps I did not put that as well as I could. I have looked at the seasons fixtures and I believe this run is the most difficult in our season. Take a look at them? Succesive matches against one top team after another the only slight break is Norwich in the middle. Normally we have a hard game then a relatively easy one.

I thought he pulled up when nobody was anywhere near him? This would suggest a muscle strain.

Either way, I can't see him being risked tomorrow.

I don't think he'll play either if he did get a knock.

Something like this I reckon

Hart
Zabaleta Savic Lescott Clichy
De Jong Barry
Johnson Aguero Nasri
Dzeko

Managed to blog myself a press pass for the game on Wednesday night. After the game Robeto was confident he would be ok for Saturday

That's what the commentator said but i think he was wrong. Just before it was noticed I am sure he got hit from behind.Looked routine but obviously it wasn't but I would guess he could play tomorrow if it was felt essential.Best way of giving him a proper rest though is to leave him out tomorrow and withdraw him from the Spain squad.

well have had 2 weeks off before the first 2 games, a 4 day rest before dippers, arsenal he probably wont play all first teamers, norwich we should win at home. bayern if we beat napoli we wont need to win. chelsea arsenal if they carry on conceding we should win those, no probs. plus arsenal chelsea will also have played champs league and c cup also.

Yeh he was definitely hit from behind he was caught with a knee in the back. I was worried about the injury to him and played it in slow motion on my recording of the match.

Most of our team will have international matches. Arsenal will be desperate to win silverware after their heartache last year against Birmingham, IMO they will play a team they think can win and it will probably contain VP. My main concern is the lack of recovery time between big games.

That's the price for being successful though Plainspeaking mate.Btw i thought Silva looked in a lot of pain in the dugout so maybe best to rest him tomorrow unless of course he also banged his napper lol.

i think he'll play Saturday....and come off early. Mancini will use him to get us a lead and dominate QPR and then take him off.

hopefully he wont play for Spain though.

IMO it would be unfair for us to play him and expect Spain to rest him. He is desparate to get a regular place in the Spain team.
As I said before I hope he gets a 2 week break for Newcastle etc. Back injuries can be really painfull :-(

it is unfair. but when is any fan expectation even fair and rational?

I think it is fair and rational for the club that pays his wages should not want him to play for his country whilst carrying an injury.

What is extremely irrational is the notion of him playing for his country whilst injured just because of sentimental reasons.

If it wasn't Silva & we weren't 2 up, it may have been a case of 'get on with it'. I'm not convinced it was anything serious. Even if he is left out today because of bruising, which I doubt, I think he will play for Spain.
