He has got his work cut out if he is to achieve that.

My guess is that Bob will keep giving him chances to play the roaming forward mid when he can. If Milner keeps supplying what he is capable of then Bob will respond with more confidence in him to be one of the game controlling players.
if you ever watched enough Villa games you would have seen what he contributes at best, popping up all over the place with game changing influence. But at Villa he was allowed to do that. At City he has had to learn how to fit that in whilst doing a more specific job first.
My take is that Milner and Nasri are in a straight competition for places, but that is old school thinking and it is just as possible to develop the two of them to play together and give Silva the day off.

Anyway Milner has the incentive and give or take the ability, despite what his detractors say. it is pretty sure he will improve in this atmosphere.. up to 2nd best.. it would be good to see for no other reason than what that would mean for City overall.

I think he's been excellent in almost every game he's played this season. Still frustrates occasionally with the odd heads down English style charge into the advertising hoardings but he shows moments of real class too & he works his balls off.

I was watching a programme just before we signed him; Terry Venables & Peter Taylor both said they reconed he was going to blossom into just about the best English player in the Prem. Sometimes that seems like a ridiculous statement but when you see that goal he scored v Villa, it doesn't seem silly at all.

Tricking the Villareal defensive line was the best one for me.. closely followed by that goal.

What suggests there is more to come is that he was close to things but not quite getting it right, then it seemed to click. So now we should see some development over the coming months.

Kompany for me, maybe not the flashy'est and have made a few errors, but clearly the 2nd most important player for us, maybe the most imp. One

I voted him my October player of the month on the official web-site: yep, ahead of Silva.
And I was somewhat wary of what he could bring to the party when we signed him.

But he's upped his game, big time, this season

By the end of the season I hope and expect such a decision will be incredilbly difficult as there will be so many to choose from.

Might end up as Joe Hart although so far I would have Lescott as our best defender. Micah has been awesome at times and Clichy has been very good consistently.

I wonder how many goals our top scorer would need to be considered.Dzeko or Aguero could get to 30 in all competitions and put a real claim in or they may just do it in the big games and win the most important games for us.

I think even with Mancini's 'rotation' Dzeko can score 30 league goals this season.
Think about it: he could have actually scored FOUR goals, in the 20 minutes he played at Old Trafford

I don't get it, where's the catch, or was Milner it?

Mancini may agree with you. Completely unscientific, but listen to who he names 2nd in the City squad as one of the best in europe (around 1:40):
