Joe and England

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Joe and England

I see he's the one being paraded before the cameras again. He's been the one fronting the press conferences for the last five or six internationals now. Crapello obviously recognises what a smart lad and articulate speaker he is.

Future England captain or are the keeper-captain days long gone?

I think the days are gone in all honesty. Not because they dont do a great job, just because i think a captain should be able to exert his influence all over the pitch at any given time. A good keeper will pretty much be a second captain anyway, and Joe is exactly that.

Plus, its only captains that are allowed to discuss things with the ref (i think), so a captain must be able to do that wherever the play is.

Its clear to see he's had a fair bit of media-training recently too.

I think its because he`s the only 1 left in the squad who`s not shagged anyone he shouldn`t really be shagging.

I've noticed him going up field when ball out of play and passing on observations more this season, especilay first half at OT, he will be a great leader, but agree with others captain needs to be outfield these days. The ref could not call a gooaile captain over to calm a team after a bad tackle as he would need to organise his deffence for the free kick

Thought he handled the interview very well. However the interviewer was trying to slant the questions he didnt get what he wanted.

He adopted a similar line when an interviewer was trying to get him to slag United before the last derby. He said something like: "We're Manchester City - why should we care about them or anyone else with all that we've got going on here?" Beautiful.
