I was thinking about starting a new thread for the upcoming game where we can review our opponents fans and see what their thoughts are on the upcoming game? Not sure if this was one for the match thread or warrants its own place, we'll see how it goes
http://www.nufc-forum.com/nufcforum/ind ... ic=41637.0This week it seems that 99.9% of barcodes (who have the leagues best defense) are thoroughly shitting themselves!

You werent joking eh! Its so strange to see so many comments like that, especially about City. Despite being unbeaten and up at the top, they're displaying some of the biggest negativity ive ever seen! I dont think it will be as easy for us as 99% of the barcodes on there do.
"If we lose by less than 3 clear goals I'll be pleased."
"if we can keep it respectable i'll be happy"
"Even losing by only two seems unlikely"
Excellent! Surely they're applying some sort of reverse psychology on themselves, preparing for the worst but secretly hoping for the best etc.
I'm now expecting City 0-3 NUFC cause of this! Cunts.

I'll quote Mr Alex Sapphire's preview....
"A closer look at Newcastle’s season so far...shows that all of their seven victories were secured against teams currently languishing in the bottom half of the table. They’ve faced top-ten opposition on only three occasions, ending deadlocked in every case.
With a cagey one-all at Villa where both teams were there not to lose, and an opening day point in a goalless affair at home to ten-man Arsenal, who were at that time in total disarray, only their fight-back at home to Spurs shows their potential to take something from the big boys."

Newcastle will be a tough team to beat in my opinion. They've had a very decent season so far and Pardew looks like he's knitted together a tight bunch of players who work very very hard. They've not spent much of the money they got for Carroll, but they have addressed the problem areas they had. Ba has looked a quality signing, I think he's got 8 goals so far in the league so we'll have to watch him. They've got a decent goalkeeper who's playing well at the moment. You know they can get a goal from anywhere if Ryan Taylor is playing as well (I seem to remember us being linked with him back when he was at Tranmere). And you know full well they won't back out of any 50/50's.
It's going to be a tough match in my opinion. They're not 3rd in the league, above Chelsea, because they got lucky.
We're at home though and hopefully if everyone is back from internationals fully fit we'll get the win.

Respect to them for not being as unrealistic as some supporters can be (like Liverpool not just hoping but believing they can win the league this season) and realising they've not had that tough opposition so far.
They have shown great spirit and will be a tough team to crack for sure, and if we don't take our chances we can lose.
However at home, great form and not many injuries I think we will win and comfortably.

I think it safe to say that the Toon will go at it and stay at it all game. How tough that makes it depends a lot on how City shape up. The games after internationals don't set a good benchmark for workrate levels so far as we have seen. Put those two together and it could be a difficult game purely due to workrate differences.
Obviously if City turn up with a spark then we should be able to outmanouver them and quality will tell in the end.
Another plus for City is they don't have Scott Parker at Newcastle.

I like this idea of seeing what the opposition fans think before we play them, maybe we could make this a regular thing?

They worked fantastically hard in the game v Stoke that I watched recently (but Stoke were like England v Spain without Paul Parker)
but showed no quality in their play other than hard work & didn't look particularly organised at the back to me. If Pardew has managed to genuinely make a defence out of Collocini, Taylor & Danny Simpson, I doff my hat to him.
Imo, so long as it's 0-0 they're fine. If we get 1 though, all hell will break loose.

Back to their fans: I used to like them before they became deluded. If they've got reality again, good luck to them.

If Cabaye and Tiote are fit then it'll be difficult through the middle - both are quality players. First game of the season I'll have to miss.
