for a City game?

Some say 47370 v Spurs last season whilst other say 47348 against Chelsea in December 09

Either way, I reckon we might beat it today.

It all depends on how many fans Newcastle bring and how big the security is, doesn't it?
I was at the Chelsea game and that was definitely a sell-out (for the home stands) and I'm sure we've had plenty of sell-outs since.

I thought it was against Liverpool at new year a few seasons back when they had no segregation. Certainly was the record at the time.

I wonder how it is possible that we sell out considering there is all this media bias against us.
Maybe it does not exist or is having no effect.
If the media agenda to slag us of is aimed to make people hate us why are our crowds going up why are we on telly more why are we shown earlier on MOTD?

I can see that your post is an attempt at a not so thinly veiled dig at those who talk about media agendas, but it was a fucking shit effort mate.

How would media bias stop city fans from watching their own team in increasing numbers when they are playing well?

Don't you think that considering the fickle nature of the fans who the media are trying to influence i.e. the kind of people one of our members got annoyed with when he said he had been a city fan all his life would be more inclined to keep stum as according to the media we are the reincarnation of Satan.Or that the new fans who have been seen at our ground taking snaps who have come from abroad would pick a team that are media darlings.Or our Sheikh would sue the media considering they are saying so many lies about us as he bought us to get good publicity about his country.
Or is it perhaps that we are getting new fans because the majority of people are saying decent stuff about us.

Mate, we are getting new fans because we do things like beating the redshit 6-1 on their own shitheap live on telly all around the world, and so on.

I suspect that you know this to be true and don't need me to tell you.

There have been a lot more than 40,000 city fans for quite a while now - its no surprise that people want to put their hands in their pockets to watch this team rather than Stuart Pearces

I dont really think my mate who lives over here in France has a huge effect

I didn't see too many empty seats, in fact, there only seemed to be a few near the singing stand. Looked like those who'd been banned for standing.

Shitty Newcastle fans though, they never change.

There were quite lot in the Colin Bell at the family stand end. The front row above the away fans was also empty, presumably to avoid 'oops I've spilt my drink' moments, although I have seen it filled for other gamea

Ah, can't see up there mate, still looked packed though.

Does this mean we're now part of 'The Record' then? Where's my trophy?

PS gamea is the Latin plural of 'game'. It isn't some sort of typo caused by my phone not bothering to autocorrect something.

The English plural for 'game' is 'games' and the 's' is right next to the 'a' on the keyboard, and would have avoided you needing to clarify.

I am under the impression clubs use tickets sold rather than bums on seats for the attendance figures.
So season ticket holders who don't make it and don't pass their ticket on count towards the figures? I might be wrong, this is what I've heard from several (non official) sources. This might explain the empty seats dotted around.

The other reason is Newcastle not taking the top tier. The segregation on both sides of the away fans, will use up a couple of hundred seats which cannot be sold.
Newcastle appears to sell the vast majority of their allocation and City fans took most of the tier above with only a few empty seat in the area where away fans usually sit in the second tier.

Usually when teams don't have the second tier, they don't sell out the lower tier.

From an accounting and tax point of view I would have thought the club would have to declare the number of tickets sold rather than the number of people who actually come through the turnstiles.
