Over Confident Citizens

It has been suggested in recent threads that we are getting ahead of ourselves in thinking the title is ours. I just wonder how many Citizens believe a) we'll win the league and
b) we'll win the Champions League?
For me it's a) Yes
b) No
I'd hazard a guess that I'm not alone, but really when you think about it, supporters of the league leaders in England should have every right to strongly fancy their chances in the CL.
So I'd say we're not that cocky at all.

I remember Keegan being 15 points clear at Xmas. No chicken-counting here.

Is that a 'yes' or a 'no' then?

I
think we will win the league. But I am not over-confident. Luckily I also think Mancini thinks the same and will instill the need to win before every match. He is unlikely to implode KK-style!

Too early to call for the league, it's still a long way to go. Ask me when it's around the end of the year. But I consider the games we have from now to then are very decisive. As for Champions League, there are teams who are much better than us, and have got more experience. I think we are getting carried away a bit, no doubt though it's very exciting.

Was it really as many as 15 points? I thought it was a bit less than that, but wouldn't like to argue the point.
I always thought it was unfair to say that Keegan imploded. His "I'd just love it" thingy was only saying what we were all thinking.
And do you fancy our chances in the CL then?

Its all about the bad patch. It will happen, probably around or just after Christmas. But it will happen to scum too.
I was going to start listing names of players who need to stay fit, but I'd have listed most of the squad. Silva being a key one above all others imo.
I reckon anyone who is over confident must be a brand new glory seeking City fan, who doesn't remember the horrendous fuck up's we have made over the last 40 years.
As someone said, look at Keegan's Newcastle, it could happen again. Imagine the piss taking if it was scum that over did us on a 12 point lead.

I think we'll win the league, but I'm not celebrating it yet as has been suggested by one or two fucking idiots in other threads.
There is a long way to go but its damn exciting and the way I look at it, it could all fall apart in an instant - such is life, so I'll enjoy it RIGHT now as though as though every improvement we make and every level we reach is gonna be as good as it gets.
I realise these one or two specials don't want to get excited until the last day of the season, but I really wish they wouldn't keep trying to convince the rest of us that we should do the same.

This.
Except I think we can even manage without Silva now we have Yaya, Nasri and Johnson (if its one of the games he turns up for).

I think we have earned ourselves the right to be confident
We should approach every game with a confident attitude and therefore IMO we should be looking to do more than we did last year domestically i.e cup and league. As for europe I think us being in the CL this year has already for me achieved as much as I wanted so any further progress is a bonus for me.

This. It's impossible to say after 12 games.

Two weeks ago Piccs I did a confidence barometer to see what people thought we would win. I'll do it again around christmas time.

I am enjoying what I am seeing every week. What happens in the next game is an unknown so I will just enjoy my team being 5 points clear at the top of the table today. Thanks.

Nigel - they don't represent anything actually and that daft Latin bit is silly too.
Before the Thaksin took over the club I was a shareholder as well as a season ticket holder. Once a year at the AGM we small independent kind natured investors were allowed to put questions to the Chairman, the Manager and the COO.
I asked this question and apparently the design company that came up with the new logo thought it looked good. Sigh.
For my money the old roundel we used to wear in the centre of our shirts looked better.

Well it doesn't get mentioned often.

Do not think any long standing fan could be over-confident - seen to much misery and disappointment.
The really positive thing though is Mancini - this seems to be a man of real determination and focus - he will single-handedly keep everyone focussed and we now have such a strong spine to the team and all the other players seem to accept the need for rotation.
Mancini seems utterly ruthless IMO - the way he has just swept aside every aspect or player to do with the club that he does not see as a contribution - just simply gone - must have been a nightmare for the management that have then had to deal with the fallout and realise some money from the 'assets'
But in terms of confidence - well yes I am confident that we will in the PL - and mainly because of a) the way Mancini has got a tight hold on everything and his focus and b) well who else would win? only the scum seem likely challebgers at the moment and frankly we are a much better team and squad than they are.
Too much is made of all this "...the scum come good after xmas" etc - they were unbeaten until February last year. The only thing that worries me about that unbeaten run and indeed (as an example) their last 3 games since the derby is their outrageous spawny fucking luck - bollocks to this "..they know how to grind out results crap" - they get incredible luck and since the derby that is 9 points that could have easily have been 5.
But I do not think Mancini is the sort of bloke to allow the lucky bastards the opportunity of a lapse from us to take avantage of - of course there will be bad results but I think that they will be an occasional result rather than a run of games. The next 3 weeks will prove it either way!! Also we have by far the strongest squad and this has previously been areason for the swamp dwellers to kick on - or rather others to fade - we are the team least vulnerable to tiredness / injuries.
Re CL - well it is all down to Tuesday - the right result there and we will qualify - and we are capable against anyone over 2 legs
So PL - yes confident
CL - probably not beyond QFs but that would have been a good ride

After supporting City for over 35 years, I can honestly say that I'm never confident about anything! Even 4-1 up at the swamp had me feeling uneasy!!
I'm just glad we seem to be able to score 3 every game, as at 2-0 or 2-1 I'm bricking it!! 3-0 and I ease off the Valium a little, but the nerves return if we concede!
I won't be confident about winning the league until we're 4 points clear with one to play and even then I'll suspect that we'd be docked two points if it meant the scum winning in our place!
However, we CAN win it. We're best placed, have the best squad and are winning games and playing the best football in the PL at the moment.
CL is perhaps beyond us this year. I don't think we will nor do I think we can win it. Next year might be a different story.
