Cavani Vs Dzeko

Both similar in stature and build. But can anyone point out the difference in play between the two?

Cavani has belief in his own ability.

I could understand if Dzeko was low and confidence and struggling for goals but he hasn't been this season. If scoring 4 in one match doesn't give you confidence or the belief in your own ability, nothing will.
I get so frustrated with him just wondering around and then you see a player at the other end moving, keeping his head up, dragging defenders away from the player with the ball, etc and you wonder why Dzeko can only seem to do that when he wants to and more often than not, its not in Europe.

Dzeko shouldn't have played tonight. We should have gone for an extra midfielder, such as Nasri or even Barry and put Balotelli upfront. Hindsight's a wonderful thing though.

Pace. And fewer touches. Dzeko doesn't utilise himself properly he should be a van nistelrooy/gomez/cavani player but he drops too deep and gets too involved where iom he isn't needed. Someone needs to tell him to follow the offside line no matter what else is happening. He is not intelligent, but he is a great natural finisher. Cavani is the next big thing though he looked so dangerous in both games against us.

Thought Dzeko's effort was poor tonight, there were a few times where he seemed to get frustrated with Balotelli not releasing the pass quickly enough, but he was hardly screaming for the ball or making the right runs.

It was sunny and warm when Dzeko had his run of two good games.

Pissed off with Bob tonight. It was plain to see we needed someone with a bit of movement upfront. Balo was getting in to some nice areas but his finishing was a bit off and the keeper made a quality save when he took that shot first time. But Edin was like a plank upfront. Sergio needed to come on a lot sooner!

Dzeko's first touch was good. He just wasn't getting the ball. Whether it was because Balo wasn't releasing him, he wasn't in the right areas, or not available is another matter. I saw very little of him on the ball. We could have had more crosses in and used Dzeko's and Balo's arial prowess, but we didn't.

Shouldn't he then make an effort to come looking for the ball then? Like most other stickers would do?

I don't think he should. I think Dzeko should remain in between the two defenders, or near them and not start running around. He has great ball control and has the ability to release players. A few times I saw him in areas I wasn't expecting him, but quite often he just didn't get the ball at all, even when he was available. Dzeko didn't have a good match though and I am not trying to protect him, but he could have had a few more balls his way.

Then again, at the end of the match, Milner and Zaba had oceans of space on the right side, yet we were all on the left. One cross to the opposide of the patch would have created plenty of chances.

Erm, do you know anything about geography? Dzeko has played his entire career in countries/regions where the winter temperature drops below -10. His hometown's winter temperature reaches something like -23. Also, at Wolfsburg, his best run of form was in Feb & March, I seem to recall.

I thought that as soon as I saw the line up.

I don't think Balo and Dzeko work. Aguero and Dzeko certainly do.
