Experiment all he likes in the Wafa cup, as long as we get the Premiership, FA Cup and that other mickey mouse thing!

I agree entirely. Would rather focus on the league if we get demoted to the Europa.

Even though we've probably gone out it's been a great learning experience for us and taught us a lot about European football. The boys gave their all tonight it just wasn't to be. proud.

Come on, do you seriously expect Villereal who've lost every game to take something from Napoli? Could happen but so unlikely. And then there's the other matter of beating Bayern.

And that's not being a pessimistic bugger, it's being realistic.

The scenario is this: City 7 points / Napoli 8 points and Bayern who can't lose the first place.

It Napoli will make a draw at the team that beat them and knocked them out of the Uefa League, after a 2-1 in Spain and we beat Bayern, a team that maybe will use the reserves in this game, because, as i said, they can't lose the first place, we could have a chance.

Imho, the problem is that Bayern will want us out.

If you gave me the choice, I'd take the Premier League. Partly cos I've spent years banging on about how the Champions League should be for champions every time the rags were in it without winning the league. Not just saying that cos we're (nearly) out. If we finsih 2nd this season, I'd still prefer us to win the PL next season than the CL.

Irrespective of our game vs Bayern I simply can't see a Villereal team with nothing to play for, having lost every game taking anything from Napoli.

Could happen but it's more hope than expectation.

I know is unorthodox, but an unofficial "bonus" from us can do the trick.

exactly mate. for me, the PLis "the big one".

would rather beat the whole of england (and wales, unionists....) than a small number of teams that finished quite high in their national leagues.

Totally disagree,

getting out of the group and maybe getting to the quarters or semi final is important to our UEFA co efficient. we need to be 2nd seed at least

This time last season Mancini was very negative against the top 4 in the Prem and was heavily criticised for it (me included) and instead of trying to finish as high as possible in the league seemed more bothered about making the top 4 and winning the FA Cup, which he did.

Does anyone else think we are seeing him adopt a similar strategy this season whereby he is prioritising the Premiership over the Champions League in the hope that once we have won the Premiership he will use the massive confidence boost that it will give the club to push on and make a serious assault on the Champions League next season?

I don't think he's prioritizing either. The difference is I can't quite work it out but the CL is much more difficult to play in. Silva has said how he just can't find the same space. Napoli are a very good side who would give anyone a good game.

it's an interesting proposition mate. i don't thinki anyone could argue that zaba/kolarov is a better partnership than richards/clichy at the moment, or that dzeko is firts choice. you might just be right.

So why does he put out a stronger team in the Premiership games?

I wouldn't necessarily say he does. Tonight only the full backs wouldn't be considered regulars. Mancini's reaction to our winner against Villereal imo showed how much he valued the competition.
