Gai gets his Ass to Yorkshire

Postby Dameerto » Wed Nov 23, 2011 3:36 pm

Just read this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15856802.stm

Barnsley have signed Israel international midfielder Gai Assulin on loan from Manchester City until 3 January 2012.

The 20-year-old began his professional career with Spanish giants Barcelona.

He made his debut for Israel as a 16-year-old, becoming the youngest-ever player to represent the country.

Assulin signed a two-and-a-half year contract at City in 2010, but has yet to make an appearance for the Premier League side.

He has previously played at Oakwell in a friendly for Israel's Under-21s against their English counterparts.

Maybe - but it's been a trend this season to give them short loans - possibly to do with their lack of regular fixtures and use of academy players.

Scapuzzi, Rekik, Suarez and Razak have all featured in the league cup side.

If they went out on loan you could believe it was for some competitive minutes, a guy who has been here as long as Gai and still not even a single minute of league cup action to his name, he is gone.

Chantler to Carlisle too, plus McGivern to Bristol, Cunningham to Notts Forest, Wabara to Ipswich, Nimely to Middlesborough, possibly some I've missed.

They'll need him. Barnsley are on a poor run and need some help. Hopefully he'll showcase his talents.

5 wins, 5 draws and 4 defeats in their last 14 league games. Not the worse run ever for one of the division's less ambitious sides.

He's been injured for the majority of his time here.

This.

Plus he likes to moan to the press a bit.
