AC Milan in talks to sign Manchester City's Carlos Tevez
Tevez could join former City striker Robinho at AC Milan AC Milan have opened talks with Carlos Tevez's advisors about a January move for the Manchester City striker.
Inter Milan and Juventus are also keen but Tevez's advisor Kia Joorabchian met AC officials in Milan on Thursday, BBC Sport has learned.
City are only prepared to let the 27-year-old leave on a permanent deal.
Tevez has been expected to leave City since he was found guilty of committing five breaches of contract in a Champions League game in September.
The striker has scored 44 goals in 63 league starts for Manchester City and has another nine goals in cup competitions.
AC Milan are in the market for a striker as a replacement for Antonio Cassano, who is out for the season after undergoing a heart operation.
At present there have been no direct talks between City and AC Milan over the transfer as Tevez's advisor first seeks to broker a deal.
City will only sell Tevez if the price suits them but they are keen to offload the striker, with manager Roberto Mancini last week reiterating his view that the striker is unlikely to play for the club again.
The Argentine failed to report for training this month during the international break and was then photographed returning to Argentina, prompting the club to instruct their lawyers to take action.
It was the latest twist in an ongoing saga between Tevez and the club.
The former Manchester United striker asked for a move away from the Premier League last December, stating he wanted to be closer to his family.
Then, in September, Mancini alleged that Tevez refused to come off the substitutes' bench in a Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich, while the striker maintained there had been a misunderstanding.
An internal club investigation concluded that Tevez was guilty of five breaches of his contract and the player was fined four weeks' wages, reduced to two following intervention from the Professional Footballers' Association.

Kia meets with AC Milan officials over deal for Man City rebel Tevez
AC Milan are locked in talks with Carlos Tevez's minders.
Milan are hoping to sign the Manchester City rebel in January.
Sky sources report Kia Joorabchian flew to Milan on Thursday and met with Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani.
The Rossoneri are keen to bolster their attacking options with Alexandre Pato and Antonio Cassano absent - and Tevez could be the man to fill the void when the transfer window reopens.
AC Milan are reportedly willing to pay a fee around £25million, a reduced transfer figure from the £40million price tag City placed on Tevez's signature last summer.

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott wants the team to return to basics S CLEAN
JOLEON LESCOTT believes Manchester City must concentrate more on defending than scoring when they attempt to bounce back from their Champions League setback against Liverpool on Sund ay.
While Roberto Mancini’s side have found the net 56 times in 19 league and cup games this season, Lescott is concerned at the defending in Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at Napoli.
City defender Lescott wants the team to return to basics and produce the kind of defensive performances that earned 18 Premier League clean sheets last season. “The manager explained to us after the Napoli match that we can’t expect to score three or four goals to win every game,” said Lescott.
“Sometimes we need to be hard to beat. Our defensive record is one of the best in the Premier League. But obviously to score more goals, more people need to go forward so we need to make sure we are right at the back.”
Prior to Napoli, City’s only other defeat this season was away to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. They responded by winning 4-0 at Blackburn

AC Milan and Roma are keen on Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta.
The City star recently signed a new contract at the Etihad but that has not stopped the Italian giants from expressing an interest in him.
Zabaleta, who joined Manchester City in 2008, is settled at the club and said after City's 2-1 defeat to Napoli on Tuesday night: "At the moment I think only of Manchester City, having renewed my contract."
But both AC Milan and Roma remain interested in the 26-year-old and will press ahead with bids of around £11m in the January transfer window.

Micah's moment will come, insists Pearce as City defender Richards eyes England spot
Stuart Pearce has predicted it is only a matter of time before Micah Richards’ outstanding club form earns him a return to the England team.
The Manchester City right-back has only made one appearance for Fabio Capello – as a substitute against France last November – and used his personal Twitter account last month to vent his frustrations after he was not included in the squad for the friendlies against Spain and Sweden.
But Pearce – who handed Richards his Barclays Premier League debut at City when he was only 16 – insists he has not fallen out of favour with Capello and has urged his former Under-21 captain to keep pressurising the Italian with the quality of his performances.
‘Fabio and I speak about players all the time,’ said Pearce. ‘Micah is one of those who came on the scene and had a meteoric rise. His career stopped a little bit, then it went up again and this season his performances have been really strong.
‘I speak with Micah and my advice to him is “You just have to keep at it”. I say to him your performances at club level will have to keep putting pressure on the England manager if you are consistent enough.
‘He has to say to his international manager “come and have a look at me” because all the scouting assessments say he is playing very well. He has improved this season.
‘The one thing he is doing is playing for a club who are owned by multi-millionaires – they are the richest club in the world – and he is keeping his place in the team. That tells you something.’
Richards has seen Phil Jones play ahead of him at right-back for the senior team and Pearce fears the days when he will be able to select the Manchester United youngster for Under-21 duty are gone.
‘I hope we have not seen the last of him,’ said Pearce, whose side will resume their quest to qualify for Euro 2013 against Belgium in Middlesbrough next February. ‘He is a great talent. It would be fantastic if when the next tournament comes along, he would be one of the big-hitters to turn up.'

City game not make or break, says Dalglish
Kenny Dalglish has played down the importance of Liverpool's clash against Premier League leaders Manchester City on Sunday.
Dalglish said the club were going in the right direction, and a loss against free-scoring City would not change that.
Liverpool's recent home form has been patchy, and although they have not been defeated at Anfield this season, they have won just twice and drawn four games.
The Reds have picked up more points away, including three against Chelsea on Sunday with a 2-1 win, but Dalglish is happy with the progress made since he took over at the start of 2011, and urged fans to look at the bigger picture ahead of the showdown with City,
"We don't need to use one game to give us an incentive or something to bite on and look forward to the future," he told reporters in Liverpool on Thursday (November 24).
"We look a lot further than than that one game. We are not going to get carried away with if we have won or lost. We are just looking to progress and build something here that is going to last for a long time and I think we are moving in the right direction.
"Whether Sunday is a positive result for us or not, we will just have to wait and see but it won't be a determining factor in the progress of the football club."
One of Dalglish's first signings to the club was Andy Carroll, and the former Newcastle United front man - who joined Liverpool for £35m - has had mixed success.
Perhaps his finest performance came against City last season when he scored two goals in a comfortable home win for Liverpool, but his brace back then will not guarantee him a spot in the starting XI at the weekend, according to Dalglish.
"We take into account first and foremost what is happening at the moment and take it from here," he said. "Andy scored two great goals against them last year, but we got our reward for that and so did Andy.
"But that is not to say because he scored two last year he will score two this year. I think you are giving yourself a bit of a problem if you think that is you finished, so we will all start afresh, Andy included, for the game on Sunday. And if we can repeat the same result as we did last year everybody will be happy."
One player almost certain to feature from the start against City is Charlie Adam, and Dalglish believes his fellow Scotsman - already playing well - will only get better.
"He was somebody we wanted to get in January," said Dalglish.
"We never got him. We were patient and we got a discount on him when we went for him in the summer so I don't think it is a bad bit of business. But I don't think he is going to sit there and rest on his laurels either. He wants to push onwards and upwards and so do we."
