Australian record in sight

Our Brisbane Roar are one game away from breaking an all time Australian reord today.

A win or draw today at home to Perth would see us 35 games unbeaten, the current record is 34 held by Rugby league team Eastern Suburbs Roosters from 1936. It's been a nail biting ride and this team deserves the accolades.

Just as a bit of background, this team is currently laying a brand of football never before seen in Australia and are a joy to watch, yet get little to no media coverage as the papers and news care about AFL and Rugby. They went last season with one loss, won the title and the grand final and still didn't win Queensland sports team of the year. Boggles the mind.

I'm hoping, with little expectation, that breaking all the others sports record might give them a minute bit of recognition. That and that the Socceroos never wise up and pinch Ange (manager) away for their national side.

Carl 10 seconds wasted normally results in a happy ending for you, so why the resentful tone?

I watched a few A League games when I was over last month.

The standard in the back half of the pitch is not bad but in the final third it's pretty low quality. I reckon that some of the teams would make a decent fist of keeping a mid table Premiership team locked out defensively but I think they would struggle to score full stop against that standard of opposition.

I didn't read the OP after the negative reviews

What sort of crowds do A League teams get? Are tickets expensive?

Sorry, lack of sleep plus Carl and slim hurt my feelings.

As for tickets a lot cheaper than England obviously. My season pass (platinum) is about 175 quid. Crowds are pretty poor in bris normally but Melbourne get a good turnout and all the sides are slowly improving.

Michael theoklitos of norwich infamy. I'd say he's probably the closest to anyone you would know.

The teams with marquee names don't seem to fair as well. Brisbane recruit lesser names but have a brilliant system.

Fir the record 4-0 tonight 36 and counting.

Ah right - sorry I'd missed this!

Second set: Do you think that cheap ticket prices compared to the other sports make the league seem shitter than it is (as in less prestigious, less serious than cricket, rugby etc?)

Is it too far away for European players who still hold out hope of playing for their national teams, or do any make the journey? Is this something that's going to keep the league down?
