Arsenal on Tuesday

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Arsenal on Tuesday

Postby Moonchesteri » Sun Nov 27, 2011 6:33 pm

Fifty hours 'til we play again, this time it's Quarter-finals against Arsenal!

So who'll play? To me it's clear that back four is Zabba - Kolo - Savic - Kolarov.
De Jong and AJ will surely play as he was rested today and Dzeko too as he had just a few minutes but who else?
Maybe Razak as he was called back from Pompey? DH - is Hargreaves fit?

Can Balotelli play or will he serve his ban against Norwich (it's just one match ban isn't it?)?

Aguero must play. He needs a run of games to get up to speed.

If the match was on Wednesday night I'd agree with you but I'm not convinced having played 80 minutes this afternoon that Mancini will start him on Tuesday.

I certainly agree that he still looks slightly behind the 8 ball and needs a good run of games to get his spark back.

I see what Cityger's thinking here but I too feel that Tuesday's match is too early for him. I'd rather give him a proper rest (leave him out of squad altogether) and then start him against Norwich on Saturday.

Can't say I'm that arsed tbh. Just do whatever is neccessary to keep the players sharp for the league. If Bob things Dzeko will benefit from a runout, then play him. AJ, DeJong, possibly Barry should be ok as they've not played too much. Could play half a game each with Hargreaves & Razak. Kolarov & Zabba should be fresh. Savic & Kolo should play & hopefully it won't be against arsenal's 1st team strikers, or we're fucked. Kolo got a few mins today & even in that short time, managed to give Andy Carrol a free header.

Aguero to me, looks like he's been carrying something for weeks. I don't think he's been 100% since very early in his City career. I recon we'll see a lot more from him if we get him fully fit so I wouldn't play him at all midweek. We need him & Dzeko fit as we don't know what Balotelli will do as the season goes on.

Perhaps have him (and two or three other important players) on the bench.

Aguero hasn't been the same player since the groin injury that forced him off at Ewood Park. Since then he has had a few niggly injuries and doesn't look to have fully recovered. He seems a bit off the pace at the moment and his decision making has been questionable. Considering he has started 3 games in the last week I would leave him on the bench on Tuesday

We're four games away from a trophy, we'd be stupid not to take it seriously.

We will get a reward of possibly a two game semi final v the rags if we win. That will give them the opportunity to kick fucking lumps out of our best players & even out the title odds if we take it seriously.

It can also give us the opportunity to beat them again! I'd love to see us win another trophy, we've got a big enough squad, especially now that were 80% out the CL imo.

Think it's still the same injury. Had the problem with Argentina as well. Needs a good rest and a few days of nothing with no game for a week will do him good.

I think our squad is about to be tested. We have no backup in central defence & now that Balo has proved he still has it in him to fuck up at any point, we only have two reliable strikers, one of whom seems to be carrying an injury & the other is brilliant one game & dogshite the next. Balo is a bonus card; the Joker.

If we're going to win the Prem, we have to put everything into it & just takewhat comes in the other competitions imo. Don't risk anything that could cause us even the slightest worry in the league.

Something like:

Panti
Zaba,Kolo,Savic,Kolarov
AJ,Nigel,Hargreaves,Nasri
Dzeko,Aguero

I only leave Aguero in for match practice but if he isnt deeemd fit enough maybe Razak gets a game.

I completely see where you're coming from but I'd Love to play United and put them out the competition and get another trophy whilst we're at it. I love derbies and two more would be amazing.

I think Utd's reserves will beat our reserves as they have CB's & strikers & we don't. If we got Liverpool they will play their 1st team v our reserves & spank our arses.

One game at a time eh lads! We have to get past Arsenal first.

Lots of players need a game anyway and after today I'm thinking there are quite a few that need a rest.
Like others not sure if Aguero needs a rest or to play more. I'd go for rest i think and look to let him run riot in a bit more space he will get v Norwich.

Pants, Onuoha, K Toure, Savic, Zabba, NDJ, Hargreaves, Johnson, Kolorov, Nasri & Dzeko. The bench should be part first choice & part kids, such as Rekik, Suarez, Razak + ST, WB YT & JM, with the intention of not using Yaya & Milner. Doubt that Arsenal will risk their main players either so a chance to test our back up squad
