As much as I'd love to see Suarez sent off every game it's unfortunately not as clear cut as waving your hand in a referees face otherwise I'd be all for it ;-)

I personally think the refs should take the stance of a rugby ref, you disagree or talk to the ref you get a punished.

This would be difficult for refs to enforce as it stands now but if it was brought in as a rule ( only the captain can question the ref ) I would be in total agreement with it. After the game too; why should the officials be subject to the kind of intimidation the ref at OT had to put up with after yesterday's game ? Those players know it's not possible to change the outcome, what they are doing is trying to intimidate him, & all refs & linos, so that they won't give a decision against them in the future. It's out of order.

Ferguson is doing the same thing after the game in his tv interviews & that should carry a bigger penalty, especially for repeat offenders.

I distinctly remember Pablo Zabaleta getting a yellow card for it - it was away at Birmingham City. Which at the time I was actually pleased about because a) it is not something I want to see a City player doing, and b) I thought something was going to be done about it on a wider scale. But no, it seems to have died a death. Funny that. They can outlaw snoods quickly enough though cos that's the real issue in the game today..

That said, it used to be the case that a ref could do whatever he wanted under the umbrella of ungentlemanly conduct or however it is worded. Sadly I've not seen the laws of the game for a bit so I'd have to check on that. So if the ref felt intimidated when surrounded by screaming inbreds at $old trafford, or felt a certain Uruguyan Esther Rantzen lookalike was diving like a starving kingfisher, he could book the relevant player(s) for ungentlemanly conduct. Strange how it only ever seems to apply to the Wolveses and Stokes of this league though.

If the FA had any balls they could impliment it easily - only captains allowed to query the ref. (or a designated outfield liason for keeper captains). Any decision involving a player would be expained to the captain with the player present. Desent would be a bookable offence. Let's see how many teams crowd the ref then.

He is the bloke in charge on the pitch. He should be on a pedestal. I know we can't always keep bringing up Rugby as an example, but I never spoke to a referee in 10 years of playing. However I would have a go (not in yer face though like happens today) at the ref in football matches every week because I knew it was possible to put the ref under pressure for a decision

I hate it but there's a wider issue in football than just card waving. The issue being that a large proportion of footballers are cheats.
