That Nige now seems to be a periphery player?
Was a time when he would have been the first name on the team sheet for manager and fans alike
What's happened?
Have we advanced that much?
And don't come out with the agent line..turns out he's not represented by Kia..urban myth

Nige is great at what he does well (breaking play up) but unfortunately I think he's just too one dimensional to be a regular starter. Football has moved on.

All i know is we gave away less goals with him in the team last year but scored a lot less.

Still a great player, still easily good enough for the first team, I just think his style of play doesnt really suit the attacking nature we have developed this season.
I think Nige still has a great future at City, although I am afraid he is now destined to rotate as we do not try to defend as much as last year.
Maybe if he works on his distribution and his pace then he could play more of a part?

I think he should play in the bigger games against better opposition.
We're so much tighter defensively with him in and we have the firepower to always at least get one so we'd always win with a clean sheet

To me he hasn't really been the midfield destroyer he once was since the Ben Arfa fiasco. He said he would never change his game in the wake of that but I wonder if the pathetic media frenzy that was whipped really has tamed him to some extent.

I think De Jong has played more of a peripherary role this season because originally he got injured in the first game against Swansea and was out for 4-5 weeks after that.
Secondly the form of Gareth Barry over that period and the season so far has been very good.
Thirdly, Mancini has decided to play more expansively in more games this season and De Jong has been a victim of that.
On a personal level, I think we look a lot more solid with him in the team and would like to see get a run of games because i'm almost certain our clean sheets would increase, which it needs to because we are not going to keep scoring 3 or 4 every game.

I think it's weird that people don't realise and accept we are doing well with him playing the part he is now.

dont agree. he was immense last season after the ben arfa incident.
he has just been unlucky as he got injured and we went on a great run, theres plenty of games where he will be needed, horses for courses its just recently he hasnt been the horse! He will be needed badly in coming weeks.

Its the Agent or advisor, simples. Believe your own sources that its a myth if you want, but thats the nub of it from what I hear. He'll likely be gone in the summer unless some changes are made with who he is listening to.

Nigel's agent is Rodger Linse

That may be his official Agent, but he also is apparently being advised elsewhere too hence why the new "contract" hasnt been completed, whilst petty much all others have theirs sorted. Kind of strange dont you think?
City's stated position is that they will have now have no dealings and no monies are to go to you know who.

He waws injured at the formative part of the season & the team got off to a flier without him. At some point, he will probably produce a MOTM performance when picked & force himself back into the spotlight. Quite often in a title challenging season, different players come to the fore at different parts of the season. Giggs won POTY a couple of seasons ago for his performances pre Christmas then was a peripheral figure for most of the remainder as others edged him out.
Nige, Adam Johnson, Nasri, also Zabba & Kolarov will all have a bigger part to play in the future provided they step up when asked imo.

I've heard a few different theories on this but never anything conclusive.
I heard the snake offered his services ( just as he did to Kompany and Hart apparently ) and that De Jong being the astute businessman that he is declined.
City said ( I believe it was Marwood ) that negotiations wouldn't take place during a season, however as you pointed out others have tied up new deals, perhaps those that signed the new deals didn't need to negotiate, they signed what was offered, hence their contracts were signed during the season.
I've also heard that we are delaying De Jong and Kompany's contracts because of the FFP rules. If they are on their current wage when the first monitoring period comes in it will be better from an expenditure pov than if they signed new deals on improved terms.
It's hard to know what to believe.
I do miss him on the pitch and feel he should be more involved against the 'bigger sides', particularly away from home.

Any contract signed before the FFP rules kicked in counts as a zero towards it, I would prefer we set the bar low(sign them to new contracts now), then in subsequent years we can show progression to financially parity. Which as I understand it, is a big part of avoiding sanctions.

With Yaya being at the ACON now I bet we will see a lot more De Jong now.
