That would free up their fixture list for the arse end of the season though (since they will probably get knocked straight out again in the Chump's league). I want those knobends to be as busy as possible - or I want it to be us that knocks them out of the later stages of the Europa

There is no reason for FIFA to suspend Basel in Jan (apart from the obvious) as they could just ban the Swiss clubs from next year's competition. If they decide to suddenly kick out a club who have done nothing wrong because of the actions of another club & a bunch of officials, I would expect a lawsuit. They would never do the same to Milan, Madrid or Manure.

Also, seeing as Basel have broken no rules, there is no reason Utd should be the team benefit from their expulsion, as they were beaten fair & square. If Basel were to be banned, the only fair way to decide who goes through would be for the spare place to go to play offs or to the highest points achieving loser; which I believe would be us.

Actually..if this was the case..the team that didn't qualify with the most points total would go through

Won't happen, seen articles like this one many times before. Nothing ever happened:-)

Can only remember one team being banned from europe during a competition and that was the turkish one this year not being allowed to compete in the qualifier.

No chance they will remove basel after qualifying from the group stage because some other team in the same league has done something.

I can't see uefa allowing Fifa to get in on their business. Although i quite like the idea of bayern tonking united. Which they will.

It's a point of principle between FIFA and the Swiss FA, the ban on clubs in Europe is a knockon effect of sanctions to be imposed on Switzerland from the 12th onwards, so if their FA don't back down this will happen (it will also include their national team plus refrees and match officials).

It would be fucklin hilarious if they got banned and we replaced them as highest points scorers...Then we went on to win the thing.

Can you imagine Platini, Rumminege, taggart, his rags, and those angry gnarled and bitter Arsenal fans...as well as that shite Custis and the whole of talkshite....FUCKIN HILARIOUS.

It would probably be the 1sr ever final not shown on TV...in favour of an Emmerdale special.

It happens though eh? Didn't Celtic get back into the Europa this year by a similar ruling? I know it's happened a few times before.

I was speaking to a friend this afternoon who said he wouldn't want it. They don't deserve it and shouldn't have it. I always think a bye is the better option in such circumstances, but TV money wouldn't allow it. Maybe they're could be a competition to see who gets the place? Gotta be better than the Europa right?

Imho, i think that will be good for us, if they go back in the Champions League. In Europa League, they won't take the games seriously and they can be more fit for the Premier games, but if they will go in the Chumps, they will face Bayern, they will have two hard games, they might have new fitness problems and they can go down.
Even thought they go back, they won't reach the semi and imho, Bayern will win without any problems.
