Cruzeiro are keen on signing Roque Santa Cruz from Manchester City, and are willing to offer wonderkid Leo Bonatini as part of the deal for the Paraguayan striker, the Brazilian club have confirmed.
Sporting director Dimas Fonseca confirmed that signing Santa Cruz is his first priority in the transfer market, and that he has already made contact with City, offering the 17-year-old Bonatini to sweeten the deal.
"A delegate has made contact with City about the possibility of a transfer. We are waiting for an answer in the coming days," Fonseca told Globoesporte.
However, the sporting director is not so sure that a deal will be struck.
"I think it will be a little difficult. Leo is one of our promising talents, but Roque is already an established player. But if the deal is to our liking, we will pursue it."
Santa Cruz is currently on loan at Real Betis. The 30-year-old has made just 20 Premier League appearances for City since 2009, scoring three goals.

They wouldn't offload a 'wonder kid' for a 30 year old with a dodgy injury record. Either we have been seeking to get this kid & are offering financial incentives or he's not a 'wonder kid' at all .

Never even heard of him. However deal or no deal? Deal for me, as long as they pay crocky's wages/medical expenses

My thoughts exactly. I'm wondering if they've made this up to generate interest in the kid. If so, it was a poorly-devised ploy.

He could be the kid out of the omen for all I care. If it gets RSC off the books it's a good deal.

This. Also, we could send Damien on scouting trip before Academy derbies.
