Favourite misses

Postby Pretty Boy Lee » Thu Dec 29, 2011 11:21 pm

Was talking in work yesterday about our favourite near goals.

My two from memory were the Robinho round the back kick v Pompey at home that got saved and the Ade mazy run that fed SWP for him to spoon the chance.

Anyone got other's they remember with fondness?

Mario's against the bar other night was spectatcular as well.

Also for sheer comedy value and remembering the bad old days the Vass over the bar in the derby. Wasn't so funny back then mind.

I honestly can't think of any of our misses favourably. The misses I actually remember are all entwined with heartache and pain. Fleeting chances that could have changed games, fortunes, lives, destinies. And would I change a single thing? Yes. I wish we'd scored.every.single.one.

Early memories of missed Alan Harper and Michael Hughes pens. Why did they bloody take them in the first place!? Fowler against Boro. So many derby possibilities. Shit, this is bringing me down, I need to get out of this thread!

That one miss against Wolves that would have been goal of the season a while back. It would have been a goal to remember, but as it wasn't a goal it's hard to remember right now. I think Garrido scored in that game?

just checked, it was a brilliant counter attack from a wasted wolves corner. Tevez should have scored but didn't

Keep telling mine I prefer Isla Fisher, doesn't seem to bother her too much.

I loved that guy! If he could defend I'd love him to still be here.

It was Charlton at home, night match. Finished 1-1 (as did 90% of my first 15 games at COMS, weirdly). I think Di Canio equalized with a penalty scramble after Seaman had parried the spot kick, late in the game too. It was an appalling handball decision against Tarnat, I think.

Back on topic, yes, it was a really good volley.
