What does Adam Johnson actually do?

I think today proved why he should rarely if ever start a PL game
Lost count of the times he lost the ball with shite dribbles or wayward passes
Garbage
Someone remind me why he is considered an upgrade on sweep?

I would be very surprised to see him feature again under Mancini because he must be running out of patience with him. Johnson whinges in press, Mancini gives Johnson said chance. Johnson wastes chance.....repeat......again and again
He has one ability that nobody can take away from him though which goes in his favour, and that is that he is English. I fear that alone may keep him at the club.

I thought he played well. If you run at players you sometimes lose the ball. He was imo our best creative player imo & goals should have been scored from moves he started & passes he made. I think he should be allowed to come inside more though. Mancini shouted at him to stay wide but I think he plays well when he comes in. I underrstand he wants to pull defenders out but I think AJ should be allowed to move around & send someone else out there.
Nasri on the other hand created almost nothing.

Its a tough one, because I thought in the early stages he did well and was the one taking the game to them. However he invariably lost the ball when he should have released it much sooner, and passed it on occasions when he probably could have done more damage himself.
I would love to think he can kick on, but he has been here 2 years now and I just don't see the improvement I would expect in his overall game. Ultimately, Mancini wants him to play a certain way, and if he doesnt, he will be out the door soon enough.
With regards Nasri - I would love him to come good and am sure he will, but I can't help feeling Arsenal bummed us there.

I started a thread with a similar title to this a month ago, then he scored and it disappeared on a rapid downward trajectory. Just like AJ did right after that game, coincidentally.

He comes on and looks a world beater when a game is already won.

Johnson was better than Nasri ... can't say much more than that really

He started well enough but in the 2nd half did jack shit. Again. Nowhere near good enough. Sadly, I don't think he's alone.

I noticed Mancini giving him those instructions and I've noticed it many times before. If he's so keen for AJ to hug the touch line and not come inside then why play him on the right.

Can't agree with that. I think he was the only player to produce anything of quality build up 1st half. Made some bad decisions yes but much less than Yaya who ruined many good moves started by great play from AJ. Last 20 mins he was mostly ineffective but that was when Mancini was shouting at him most & he was telling him to go wide.

He was great in the first half. Both on the right and - to a lesser extent - on the left. Made a lovely pass to Nari, who should have scored, and another one to Yaya. He faded badly in the second half, but so did most of the team. Nasri was invisible all game, and Agüero lost possession just as easily after he came on.

10 minutes in the first half Ted doesn't make for a good game I'm sorry
Impact sub at the very best

He set Dzeko up with a lovely pass accross the box 2nd half.

Imo. if AJ is shit then about 7 others are shitter because he was one of the better, not the worst players today. Dzeko was shocking 2nd half. Aguero was average at best. Nige was plodding. Kolarov was invisible. Vinny & Lescott did some great stuff but dropped some terrible blunders, Nasri contributed nothing, Yaya wasted about 15 great attacking positions by either choosing the wrong run or passing to Sunderland. I just don't understand why AJ even gets a negative mention on that showing tbh.

Because Bobby has doubts about him?
Because it was his chance to allay those doubts in Bobbys mind?
Instead he just compounded them
Like I said..I doubt he will get a better opportunity again

I was honestly pretty happy with him. I think he did a lot of what I would want him to do but his team mates wasted it.
