Probably an unpopular opinion, but I'd rather watch him play every week for Newcastle than sit on our bench. It's nice having a bit of parity between the teams in a given league, rather than a select few team hording all the good players.

Hes 26 and hitting his peak.. I dont think hes quite good enough and I'd rather keep faith in Edin.

Not quite good enough??!! He's the 2nd best striker in the Prem at the moment

The best is 28 years old and injury prone. Oh and he would cost between 2-3 times more than Ba

He stood out last season when we rolled over a poor West Ham side; I thought then that he looked the part. Hasn't Pulis suggested his knee is a ticking time bomb, or something. Pulis I don't like, but there may be something about the knee. For 10 million, I'd be in there immediately.

Benjani?

To be honest his knee is proper dodgy and like someone said, we only really need him to cover possible injuries. Not bothered if we let this one past.

City should keep faith in Edin Dzecko.

Just because someone bids 10mil doesnt mean Ba can leave. No way Newcastle lets him leave unless Liverpool come in offering 35mil

This. Edin is better than Ba.

If Edin was starting every game he'd be on the same amount of goals as Ba right now if not more.

Have faith.

Exactly

If Ba was sold Ashley would need round the clock protection

I'd have him in a flash. He's quick, strong, has superb first touch/close control and a bloody good finisher.

But if someone stumps up the 10 mil, does he have a choice??

Probably true, but Edin looks lost sometimes even with great service. Newcastle doesn't have the worst service in the league by any means, but I would bet that Ba would score more goals in our team than Dzeko. Having said that, with his age and his rumored injury issues, we would be wise to pass. Plus, like said earlier, I would rather watch Ba continue to bang in goals for Newcastle than having him sit on our bench once January is over and our fixtures spread out a bit.

If he could really leave for £10m then we should get him. His knees may not be great but we could manage the amount of games he'd have to play. Having said that, Mancini's not keen on players who can't do I every day (argument with Bellamy) so maybe it wouldn't work.

If he is available at £10m I suspect there could be quite a queue by the end of January. The fact that no one has bid yet suggests its not true as surely his agent would be pimping him round to get a better deal

Great shout and I agree fully, though I'd have him in our starting XI

Also his knee is fine, where are people getting these stories?

I don't think we should sign Ba, we can likely do better. Also I doubt he'll keep up the form hes in, I could imagine another Carroll situation (except not costing 35M, obviously)

There was a thread on here even last year discussing whether Carroll would be worth signing, just because he appeared on a good run of form. Ba strikes me as potentially being similar.

Not to say I'd be unhappy if we did sign him, but I really don't think we will.

I read somewhere that Ba himself admitted that he have never been on such a goal scoring spree as now. A bit like RSC or Benjani I reckon. Theres better alternatives out there, considering skill, economics etc.
